YADAH FC remained in the relegation mix after falling to How Mine at Rufaro, while Chapungu inched closer to safety with a victory over Bulawayo City at Barbourfields yesterday.

A Tinashe Makanda second half header gave How Mine three points in Harare, as Chapungu got their victory from a Blessing Sahindo brace and a goal by Allen Tavariswa. Ishmael Wadi scored the consolation for Bulawayo City.

Chapungu are now nine points clear of the drop zone, but Yadah remain on 34 points, three ahead of Shabanie Mine who occupy the last relegation slot.

Yadah have now gone five games without a win, and coach Thomas Ruzive said they had to improve their finishing to steer clear of the relegation fray.

A win for Shabanie Mine, who host Triangle today, will see the 15th-placed Zvishavane side go level on points with Yadah – and Ruzive is a worried man.

“We need to be very serious, we have to improve our finishing to avoid relegation and we need to work hard. I am very worried, but it’s still game on there are four games to go,” he said.

For Kaindu’s sixth-placed side, who are now on 46 points, it was a welcome win ahead of their Chibuku Super Cup clash against Harare City.

“It’s an important victory for us … It’s difficult to have an objective now. If you look at the top four teams, there is a gap for us to catch up, but four games is quite a lot. We will play for 12 points.

“We are a bit far from the top four I think the team nearer to us is Caps United, we just want to finish in a better position and also be mindful that we will be playing in the cup final so we will probably rest some of our players. We will not push so much in the league we will probably focus on the trophy,” he said.
