Zimbabwean tennis superstar Cara Black bagged the women’s doubles title at the WTA Pan Pacific Open yesterday to maintain the rich vein of form she has struck this year.

Black and her Indian ace partner Sania Mirza earned their second title of the season with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Spain’s Garbine Muguruza and Carla Suarez Navarro in the Japanese capital.

With the win, Sania and Cara have successfully defended their Tokyo Open title, which is a $1 million event. They have reached five finals this year which include the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, United States in March, the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany in April, the Portugal Open in Oeiras in May and Rogers Cup in Montreal, Canada in August.

In yesterday’s final, the Sania-Cara pair took just an hour and 15 minutes to dispose off the Spanish challenge as their opponents were no match for them.

Reports from Tokyo said the Indo-Zimbabwean pair had a greater percentage (73%)of points won on first serve while they broke their opponents seven times in the match.
