THE Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has arranged transport for Tanzanian football fans to Harare, Zimbabwe, to support the national soccer team, Taifa Stars, during their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Warriors.TFF confirmed on Tuesday that there will be a reliable transport for local fans who would like to go to Harare to cheer up the Stars during the decisive first round, return leg match scheduled for June 1.

Taifa Stars, leading 1-0 from the first leg played in Dar es Salaam last Sunday, will be looking to oust the Warriors and maintain their quest for a place at the 2015 AFCON finals in Morocco.

The country’s football governing body said the fans will travel by bus.

They are scheduled to leave on Friday next week and arrive in Harare on Sunday afternoon — a few hours before kick-off.

“The fans will start their journey back home soon after the match,” noted TFF media and communication officer Boniface Wambura, revealing that every fan will be charged 300 000 Shillings as go-and-return fare and must have a valid passport.

With this backing, the Stars need not (be) wary of away fans’ backlash in the return leg and all they need is to put in a dominant display that will twist the fans’ allegiance.

While the Stars face a huge task to hold on to their first leg advantage away from home, a rousing performance by the Tanzanian outfit would likely turn Zimbabwe supporters against the home team.

Taifa Stars scored the lone goal of the match through towering striker John Bocco after only 13 minutes and will need to avoid a two-goal margin defeat to go through.

The aggregate winner will march into the second round where they are likely to face Mozambique who trounced South Sudan 5-0 in the first round, first leg at the weekend. — Tanzania Daily News.
