For me, it is shoes – they are the source of my drive.
Not a lot of people understand the love shared between a woman and her shoes, for some women there is no deeper love than that.
A turning point in my life was when I became friends with Rudo, a hard working young adult who had the walls of her room lined with different kinds of shoes.
This became my goal in life – to own many shoes. I promised myself to continue working hard so as to buy more shoes.
Now before you write me off as having completely lost my mind, I know several shoe fanatics who go to work for the sole reason (no pun intended) of buying shoes.
Shoes make the outfit, good heels can change your mood and your life
The festive season is here and the shoe collections are getting better and better for the party season.
l have had several heartbreaks as a result of irresponsible impulse shoe buying, especially during the festive season.
Poor shopping choices may result in some shoes either breaking off at the heel, tearing off a strap or even worse – an embarrassing public fall.
While not all shoe accidents can be prevented, there are ways to reduce the likelihood.
Style Corner spoke to some shoe experts about this hot topic.
“When you walk into a shop and you find a good pair of shoes, you have to make sure that the shoe is in good condition. It is also advisable to get shoes in storage than those on display” said Faith King, a shoe enthusiast.
Denise Chidamahiya advises that when choosing heels for a party, they should be comfortable enough for one to be able to confidently walk and dance in them.
“A shaky walk at a party will kill the party mood. Way before the day of the event I practice walking, dancing and jumping in my new shoes to ensure that I will be comfortable in them come the day. That way I find a stable balance in them” said Denise.
Some shoes looks very beautiful in the store but has an uncomfortable fit. As a result of different width and length of toes, trying on a pair of shoes is very important. This is why it is not advisable to pay for a shoe selling via Facebook, WhatsApp or online shoe stores.
It will not help you if the shoe looks beautiful on your shoe rack but can never be worn on your feet.
One final word of advice is to always have your budget in check when shopping for shoes.
Always compare prices and weigh your options of purchases.
