SOCCER: Can Bosso break DeMbare Jinx?

Title chasing Highlanders’ unbeaten run comes under heavy threat against defending champions Dynamos in a blockbuster league match set for the National Sports Stadium this coming Sunday.

Bosso are unbeaten after 11 rounds of action while DeMbare have already tasted four league defeats this season, but the visitors’ poor league record against the Glamour Boys in recent years puts their impressive run in question.

Dynamos have not lost to Highlanders in a league contest since July 2006, the last time Bosso won the league title.

Last season the two giants drew 1-1 at Rufaro before DeMbare stunned Bosso 1-0 at Barbourfields in the reverse fixture en route to their third straight league crown.

Highlanders trail log leaders Hwange by a single point following a 1-1 away draw to Triangle last week but could regain pole position if they break the jinx on Sunday and Chipangano draw or lose against Chicken Inn at the Colliery.

The blockbuster clash is devoid of some of its main actors in recent years as DeMbare are still without reigning Soccer Star of the Year Tawanda Muparati, former Bosso talisman Masimba Mambare and influential defensive linkman Devon Chafa all of whom are yet to resume full training.

Bosso could be without midfield kingpin Peter “Rio” Moyo, forward Milton Ncube and revived keeper Ariel Sibanda who are expected to join their new teams in South Africa.

Dynamos team manager Richard Chihoro assured that creative linkman Tafadzwa Rusike, who came off the bench in last weekend’s 0-1 defeat away to Hwange has regained full fitness.

“We do not have any problems upfront where the quartet of Washington Pakamisa, Anesu Gondo, Simba Sithole and Patrick Khumbula are all fit,” he revealed.
