SHABANIE MINE remain confident of surviving relegation despite remaining stuck in the danger zone after yesterday’s draw against Black Rhinos at Morris Depot.

Black Rhinos took the lead through a Farai Banda header, off a corner, on 20 minutes before Tinashe Mupumha restored parity with a header four minutes before half-time. The Zvishavane have not won their last four matches and have 33 points on the board.

However, their coach Takesure Chiragwi is optimistic of avoiding the dreaded chop despite a tough run in that will see Shabanie Mine playing Hwange at home, traveling to How Mine and hosting Yadah.

“We will fight until the last game of the season,” said Chiragwi as he once again bemoaned his team’s lack of cutting edge.

“Football is crazy, you lose games when you are doing everything and as a coach I think I should be happy because the reason why these guys are getting into scoring positions shows the work we are doing. What is lacking is the finishing touch. It’s unfortunate we lost two points again, but this is football, you have to accept and move forward.

“I am very confident we can survive because we are still in until we are relegated, these guys really want to be in the PSL and you can see it in the way they fight in every match.”

Bvaru Bvaru were guilty of missing a number of chances with Joe Nyabinde, Mupumha and second half substitute Fradreck Muza being the main culprits.

Black Rhinos coach Stanford “Stix” Mtizwa also blamed poor finishing after watching his team fail to win their fifth league match on the bounce.

“I am disappointed. We scored a very good goal from a corner and failed to maintain the lead and as result they came back and equalized,” he said.

“Last week’s game (against Highlanders), we lost (0-2) but played very well, but this performance here, I wasn’t happy, we failed to beat Shabanie. The whole week we worked on our offense but we failed to implement what we worked on.”
