Say yes to personal responsibility

The Sunday Mail

Take responsibility because you are powerful and so full of potential.
You have more power than you think, so stop thinking like a victim without a voice. You have more resources than you realise, so start thinking big and dreaming bigger.

If you have to be thinking anyway, you may as well take responsibility for how you think.
Do not ask why it cannot be done; instead, ask how it can be done. Do not be held back by the past when there is so much in the present to reflect on.

The future is begging for your initiatives and fertile thoughts. Think creatively and create solutions instead of looking for scapegoats.

Bring answers instead of compiling a list of questions for someone else to answer. Instead of thinking in the boxes that have held you back, think in new boxes. Just make the boxes bigger and better.

Be a willing actor and do not wait on the sidelines of life. You are the main subject in the narrative of your life.
You are not a footnote or a nonentity. Your life matters and your thoughts make a difference. You can do more, in more places and be more. Put your problems in perspective.

Throw off your limitations, challenge your ceilings. Quit toxic thinking and irresponsible behaviour.
You are not practicing to live. This is not a dress rehearsal but real life. You shall go on this path only once. Stop limiting yourself and putting boundaries on how far you can go.

Do not put self-imposed limits and blinkers. Do not shrink into your shell when you need to step out and shine. You are a product of the light, born and destined for greatness. Whatever you dream and commit to diligently, you can achieve. Whatever you do, know you can learn.

Whatever you do not have, you can seek. Whoever you do not know, you can find. Whatever you do not like, you can change.
Your Voice

You have a voice, use it! There are times when silence is golden and at other times it is just plain yellow.
Do not hold back your voice and hope someone will sing on your behalf. You have a voice and you can say yes to greatness.

Every little step you take counts. So start counting the steps you are taking. Never despise your efforts and contribution.
There is nothing little about a little flame. Small committed steps start big things. Small keys open heavy doors. Every step you take adds to your momentum.

With momentum, you accomplish more than you can imagine or dream. There is magic in your feet, energy in your stride and power in your resolve. Stop talking yourself into powerlessness. Do not let fear imprison you. Stop feeling pity for yourself and hope that the world owes you a free pass to greatness.

Words point the direction you intend to go. Whatever you say, you will eventually become. Whenever you open your mouth, you are creating a culture. Never speak irresponsibly and hope that you will be able to contain the consequences.
Words are powerful; they move you and others.

Whatever you think, you will eventually create. Create responsibly then by speaking responsibly. Your words shape your worlds and mould your life. If you have to be speaking anyway, you might as well speak in a way that empowers you.
Say yes to taking personal responsibility because that is true leadership.

Power is courted by those who act, not those who just sit idle and hope that everything in their lives will change without their involvement.

Preside over progress, not decay. Think differently and act responsibly.
Step into the centre circle and choose to be counted. Life is not for those who hide their lamps, shun responsibility and run.
When you take responsibility, life starts taking you seriously. Be bold, take a stand and be willing to take action. Why wait when you can begin today, where you are.

Why hesitate when this is your moment. Arise and shine because darkness is not your portion and despair is not your relative.
Seize the opportunity at hand. Keep looking, keep thinking and when any possibility flicks before you, consider it seriously and act. Do what you must do and take committed resolute action.

Stop Waiting
Waiting and waiting without a plan is a dangerous gamble.
Please do not treat life as a waiting-and-wailing game. Stop waiting for someone you do not know to show up carrying a tool box to change and fix-up things for you.

You have a part to play in the narrative of your life. Stop looking at the calendar and waiting for the perfect date and moment because that is a myth.

Stop waiting for accidents. This is the day, this is the time and you are the man in your moment. This moment may just be that perfect moment that you were wishing and praying for.

Stop suspending living and waiting for something; anything to happen. Get up and make things happen.
Nothing is going to happen until you start happening. Nothing will change until you change. Stop waiting for change that is waiting for you. If you do not move, nothing will move.

Waiting aimlessly is not faith: it’s spiritualised laziness.

This moment is your moment, seize it and make the most of it. Waiting will not change much until you get up and start marching into life.

My uncle used to say: “Do not wait for your cows to come home, go out there and get them.”
Time does not change anything, it just makes you old. You are the change agent.

Stop Blaming
“Who is to blame for your life?”
Whatever answer you give reveals the nature of your problems and their cause.
Blame is the lazy person’s walking stick. It is easy to blame than to take responsibility. The easiest hunt that you can engage in is the hunt for a scapegoat.

It does not matter how many people you blame, with what intensity, your life will never change until you take responsibility.
Take back your finger and stop the blame game. You may blame the environment for your misery, but the environment is neutral.
It is what you do that matters and not the environment. You may blame your parents or their generation. That will not in any way take you forward but keep you tethered to the past.

Going to the past to find blame is comforting because the past cannot argue.
It does not matter who you blame, blame does not solve anything or take you anywhere. Whoever you blame, you empower to control your misery and pain.

The narrative of blame is a symptom of laziness and mental bankruptcy.
Make your blame chorus as loud as you wish, as colourful as you dare, that will never change anything. Taking responsibility starts you on a path of change and growth. The size of your blame reflects the depth of your irresponsibility.
Blame is a futile Doom Loop.

Start Here
Stop running, start engaging. Running without direction will not help you make progress.
It may feel hard to be told that you are responsible for the current results in your life. Unless you swallow that bitter reality, you will be held back and imprisoned in the past.

This moment is not a dull one. It is your opportunity to rise and shine. The tests you face are the crucibles of your testimony. The challenges you face are stimulating the changes that must embrace.
Every crisis you face is pregnant with possibilities. Take responsibility. Get back into the driver’s seat.
