PREPARATIONS for the annual Dairibord Schools Rugby Festival go a gear up this week with organisers starting their trial run for the April 27 to May 2 event.

At least 182 local schools and colleges are expected to grace the event with teams from Botswana, Namibia and South Africa expected to add international flavour.

The foreign teams are Windhoek Gym, Die Anker (Durban) and the Botswana Under-19 national team.

“Preparations for this year’s event are already at an advanced stage, and this promises to be one of the best events we have ever hosted,” said festival director Sebastian Garikai.

“In keeping with tradition, we have extended invitations to teams from Botswana, Namibia and South Africa.

“Their inclusion should not only add that international flavour but help make this one of the most competitive tournaments we have ever hosted. We will also continue to host our educational and awareness programmes which will run concurrently with the games.”
