BZ: Firstly, congratulations for being elected as Junior President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

SM: Thanks man, it is my pleasure to serve my fellow Zimbabweans.

BZ: Just who is Samuel Nyarenda?

SN: Well I’m a religious boy aged 15, raised in a Family of four in which I’m the youngest. I did my Primary school at Marlborough Preparatory School and now I’m at Mazowe Boys High.

BZ: How did you make it possible to be elected as Jnr President whilst in Form three?

SN: That’s an amazing story though not impossible but frankly speaking it’s a surprising one. I went to Nzvimbo High School in Mashonaland Central for primary elections where I won and become an MP, then came the secondary elections for governorship and went on to win the Presidential seat. This means I was the favorite in all the elections from Primary to Presidential elections. In all these elections I was one of the youngest contestants.

BZ: Was there anything special you did to win the Presidential seat?

SN: (laughed) I Stood on a chair emphasizing my point during a thrilling debate which was under the topic “stand up and end child marriages”. So literally standing up on a chair was not only to emphasize a point but the beginning of ending child marriages.

BZ: Speaking of Early child marriages, what’s your notion on this ongoing issue?

SN: Forward, forward and keep moving forward, backwards never. Lets put a stop to this abomination.

BZ: As a child advocating organization what have you done or what are you doing towards ending child marriages?

SN: Good question man, well we are going to do some awareness campaigns in remote areas because I think this is where the problem is intense. So as Junior Parliament we are yet to educate children from those targeted areas (remote) mostly through the awareness campaigns.

BZ: As Junior Parliament which projects have you done so far?

SN: Marches across the country but as for now we did one in Mount Darwin, Harare and recently one in Bulawayo.

We are mainly targeting Child Marriages but also involving the Girl Child’s rights.

BZ: What are your objectives as Junior Parliament towards the children of Zimbabwe?

SN: To basically amplify what the kids are to the whole world.

How the kids are feeling, their needs and their requests.

BZ: How do you take this ongoing debate between Jnr Parliamentarians and Jnr Councillors that Jnr Council is more active than Jnr Parliament?

SN: Well Junior Councillors are in one area whereas Junior Parliamentarians are located all over Zimbabwe so that’s how it is.

BZ: So far, tell us your experience as a Junior President?

SN: It has been amazing so far, so many ideas from the MPs on how to move forward its exciting and I can’t wait to see these ideas blossom into something amazing.

BZ: You still have another year of contesting for jnr Parliament thus in 2017. Do you think by that time you will regain your Post?

SN: Only God knows maybe I will give it a shot.

BZ: Tell us, how was your reaction when your name was called out as Junior President?

SN: I lost all my feelings and my legs became weak, I actually had to sit down.

BZ: Any last words, especially to all Children of Zimbabwe?

SN: Nothing is impossible if you put your mind and heart to it.
