(Bosso win 4-3 after penalties)
NORMAN MAPEZA described his team’s loss to Highlanders in a ZNA Charities semi-final at Barbourfields yesterday as inconsequential.
Pure Platinum Play had done well to come back from a goal down and force the match into the penalty shootout.
However, missed penalties by the Moyo twins, Kelvin and Elvis, haunted the Zvishavane side out of the competition.
Bosso had opened the scoring early in the second half when Bruce Kangwa beat new FC Platinum goalkeeper Wallace Magalane with a beautiful effort.
Mapeza’s men bounced back quickly as Walter Musona equalised.
With the Moyo twins missing and Bosso converting four of their five efforts through Kangwa, Rahman Kutsanzira, Simon Munawa and Ralph Matema, FC Platinum were sent packing. Honest Moyo missed for Bosso.
Winston Mhango, Walter Musona and Tatenda Dzumbunu were on target for FC Platinum.
But despite the defeat, Mapeza insists it wasn’t about the result but a matter of getting to gauge how prepared his team is ahead of the 2016 season.
“Like I have always said, we are still in pre-season and the result to us wasn’t important. It is work in progress.
“The new players like Bakacheza (Hillary) are doing very well, they are adapting to our style of play and we hope to be in better shape when the season starts,” he said.
