New Year, New Me!

The Sunday Mail

Malcolm Chinhoyi, Form 5 Honourable Councillor —
Upon focusing on the word integrity you are basically bound to comprehend the important fundamentals of life. “Could there be a better me out there?”

The moment when you ask yourself this vital question marks a breakeven point where you decide to gain or lose in life. It is such a moment that makes you hang on the   thin line that demarcates the difference between a wise individual and a regular youth.

The Dream
STEM – Today’s younger generation (with a few exceptions) is too reluctant to become the great leaders of tomorrow. The dream is always to make a name for yourself in the hall of fame. The common concept  in  the dream is to be someone well known for;

Formulation of new mathematical equations

Discovery of new chemical elements

Making of impossible physical calculations and estimations,

Creation of futuristic gene mutation technology and biochemical concepts

Laws, topics, books and even large chemical, technological or even biological multinational cooperations are named after you. The above are only a named few from an endless list of varied possibilities on the   science and technology department of the dream.

SPORT – So many people in the dream aspire to be great sportsmen and women. There are individuals   who can sprint faster than the swiftest runner alive through determination, practice, hard work and passion. In the dream, the zil to be the best in every sporting discipline runs in the veins of each youth. Extreme     records are broken and made by each teenager of today every now and then.

BUSINESS & ECONOMICS – In the dream we have a youth that strive for success like Mr. Masiwa with brilliant innovative minds driven towards the same goal of keeping the Gross Domestic Product intact. In the   dream there is a higher competition in the business sector of the economy as a youth generation. Limitless raw materials are discovered in the dream. Mass production of these unlimited resources would bring forth a higher supply for the infinite demand in the country and hence reducing the chances of having      scarcity in the economy.

LITERATURE – During William Shakespeare’s time as a youth, he used to be a regular teenager like yourself and I. However, one day he decided to think different, be different and he made a difference in the world of English as known even to date.  If he could do it, why can’t we do it as well? The secret might be   in thinking outside of the box and writing our own articles in the Sunday Mail Bridge or even renounced novels known around the globe.  In the dream we have pacemakers and innovative thinkers in the English literature world.

LAWS & REGULATIONS – New laws in the dream are made to best govern the economy and keep it stable. In the dream we have a youth president of tomorrow that leads a country to growth and prosperity.  Inflation, crime, unemployment cease to exist in the dream.

TOURISM – Anyone in the dream can be the best travel agent to ever live. Youth made and natural tourist resorts to be discovered and found by so many motivated young minds. Tourists out there need a value for their money, in the dream there are youth who establish customer loyalty and maintain outstanding customer service.

In the dream any teenager can be the best at anything once they start to build and practice on their natural gifts and talents. Only then is when they are able to keep composure, aim for utter perfection and execute with ease.

In the dream, both sides of the brain is fully equipped with data and information from a wide range of books. The youth are able to process it quickly for the purpose of applying it to our day to day living and in turn they receive very high amounts of money for it in the form of a salary. After all, “Knowledge is power,” they say.

What the elders are communicating to us as youth is that the MEDCs had a lot of people making a name   for themselves when they grew up. These people started as youth and ended up in the halls of fame. In the meanwhile there were liberation struggles and slavery in the LEDCs. This is the reason why the third world countries exist  only as that today. Now that there are no wars and no slavery in existence in our era, what’s stopping the youth from being the next Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Bill gates, Tom Ford, Neil Armstrong or even the Wright brothers.

The current youth generation with a few exceptions don’t understand that a brilliant mind only becomes so after hard work. The results of such a brilliant mind are the ones that help to develop a country to be a first   world country with world class standards. The youth might need to learn to think out loud in the form of action to attain such results.

In the dream God gave the youth different gifts. One simply needs to fully discover their gift and use it to   develop the nation for a better tomorrow. The need to showcase and use that gift or talent exists in the      essence of bringing fourth the glory of God.

The youth always declare God’s presence only in perishing times. God always saves them but in good       times they fail to remember this deed. In the dream the youth seek for the grace of God at all times.

Reality check
On the flipside of the coin is our reality. Our generation seems to have a keen interest in the Zimbabwean dancehall. It has been stamped boldly on the status quo of our young generation. Hip hop is similarly a common in thing nowadays that the youth are perusing. In the reality, one would rather jump for the last   H-metro newspaper as if their lives depended on it whilst in the meanwhile they skip the Sunday mail right next to it.

The reality also compromises of the youth being involved in drinking and driving and hence causing accidents that leave some deceased and some badly injured on different occasions.  Hazardous smoking of Cigarettes with nicotine and the cannabis containing Tetrahydrocannabinol that is effective on certain receptors of the brain are now part of the teenage norm. There also several cases of cough syrup  and mental pills being ingested by the youth without professional diagnosis or prescription.

Our generation’s reality is generally covered by parental guided careers and less of individually driven ideas. How would we make a change in the future of our reality when we have drug and sleeping addicts, couch potatoes,, day dreamers, night life walkers, intentional sinners and  “Lizard like” individuals who simply eat, change clothes and busk in the sun for no reason?

In reality, God’s grace is omnipresent and in abundance. The youth in turn fail to kneel and pray for prosperity, guidance, success, wisdom, intelligence and knowledge from God.

Dream or Reality
Integrity is how you and I act when no one is watching. Everyone’s actions are always defined and thought through. During this thinking process whenever you’re alone, one is advised to remember to decide which side of a line he she lies.

This line is the one that differentiates youth from the dream chasers who keep   dreaming for a better tomorrow, and the reality makers that turn these dreams to our tomorrow’s reality. The ball has just bounced in the youth’s court. A wise man once said,” It’s possible to make a choice but what’s not possible is not making a decision at all.”

Life is filled with unlimited possibilities, the youth need to learn to grab them by the horns and plan adequately in advance for the best future. It is always advisable and better to prepare than to repair.

This year, ask yourself that million dollar question: “Could there be a better me out there?”.

Make the right choices in life and follow the best path that leads you to success. Always recall that a positive mindset and hard work can change your dreams and make them your reality. Take a step up a notch this year and believe in yourself.

God has a plan for you as youth. One just has to see realize the plan and see it through. The youth should learn to set targets in life and work hard for them. Once this is   done, it is possible to archive them with ease.

So this year declare the motto as it reads –

“NEW YEAR NEW ME”. Make a great impact in people’s lives in the reality of generations to come.

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND ALL THE BEST TO EXAM CANDIDATES.
