A REFRESHING new voice is rocking the airwaves. With her debut single track titled “Praise the Lord”, Sharon Tasha is proving her worth in the gospel music genre. The 24-year-old songstress said despite growing up in church, she never realised she was born to sing.

For years, Tasha ignored her calling to minister through songs.  She settled for her childhood desire and ventured into the hospitality industry.

“For long I ignored what God wanted me to do. For the past four years I was pursuing my first Degree in Hospitality and Hotel Management in Malaysia. To be honest when I was studying I was not at peace with myself because my sixth sense kept telling me that there was something important waiting for me.

“I then started searching for my purpose in life and I discovered that God was calling me to be a gospel minister. l completed my course last year and after graduation I shelved the degree and followed what God wanted me to do.

“I have since realised that this is the time for revival and I need to take the gospel to the nations,” she said.

Her song ‘Praise the Lord’ is on its way to the Star FM Gospel Great top 20 as it is being featured as a future hit.

“I was influenced to write this single by the Holy Spirit. The song is based on the Biblical scripture Isaiah 61.

“Isaiah talks about the year of the Lord’s favour, deliverance, redemption, revival, hope and faith in God. No matter what you are facing in life, you should know that God will come to your rescue only if you give your heart to Him and trust Him.

“The song is about giving people hope, just like it did to me. I remember at one point I was really confused with life, I did not know what to do but now that I am in the light, I think God was teaching me to depend on Him.

“I searched for His face and now I have peace of mind. My mandate as a gospel minister is to tell people that if we seek God earnestly we will find Him,” she said.

Tasha is currently working on her 12-track album that feature gospel artiste Tinashe Magacha of the ‘Mvura Ngainaye’ fame. She said gospel music is an instrument that brings spiritual renewal to Christians and those who are not converted.

“I am not doing this for my own benefit but for the advancement of the kingdom of God,” she said
