MOBILE network provider NetOne, which is celebrating its 21st anniversary this year, has rebranded the mobile money facility OneWallet to OneMoney, and linked it to a debit card usable on the ZimSwitch platform.
OneMoney will be officially launched soon and has already been rolled out at NetOne shops around Zimbabwe.
“OneMoney is going to be the real deal for NetOne. Mobile money is the in-thing worldwide and the market will watch in awe how NetOne’s fortunes will turn around,” said NetOne in a statement.
“This is a time of rebirth and the market has already endorsed it. One- Money debit cards are available in all our shops. We are just finalising the finer details and by the end of this month, we will officially launch One- Money.”
The debit card was unveiled recently in Murehwa at the launch of a Syndicated Mobile Payment Platform.
NetOne acting CEO Mr Brian Mutandiro said: “You can perform virtually any transaction with this debit card. The way one transacts with their bank card is exactly the same service you will get from the card.”
OneMoney’s system is supplied by the same vendor which works with Kenya’s Safaricom mobile money, M-Pesa.
“We are looking forward to seeing OneMoney becoming the M-Pesa of Southern Africa,” said Mr Mutandiro.
Zimbabwe’s first mobile network provider is celebrating its 21st anniversary by launching a host of new products to meet market demands.
The Mr Mutandiro-led management is striving to make positive changes with the launch of OneFusion proving hugely popular.
“The parastatal has been innovative and launched products which are in tandem with market’s demand. NetOne has launched six new products as it seeks to transform itself from being a mobile service provider to an all-round telecommunications outfit that offers voice, video, Internet, mobility, iptv and other applications.
“The products include Khuluma 24/7, OneRadio, One-Fi and OneCliq, OneCover and One Tech,” said the company.
“NetOne wants to meet the ever changing needs of our customers and the insatiable quest for innovative technologies.”
