My Perspective: Work to your own salvation

The Sunday Mail

EVERY Christian who believes in self-deliverance believes you are a better person when you pray on your own than when you rely on others to pray for you.
This comes in contradiction to what most people nowadays have come to believe, that only men of God should pray on their behalf. Surely, there has to be a difference in the way men of God and sangomas operate.
The major deliverance in the Bible is that of the children of Israel. Even though God wanted to deliver them from Egypt, he did not make them all disappear and appear in Canaan.
And if anyone would have chosen to stay behind surely, he would not have reached Canaan and would have died in Egypt. Using this same concept when one has a man of God he or she follows, it is not a magic trip.
One has to make the walk to the Promised Land by themselves. The role of the man of God is simply to lead as well as to deliver messages from on high.
God is a God of order.
Mantles such as anointing oils and handkerchiefs and any other physical items that can or may be used to transfer the anointing are important in a Christian’s life. (Acts 19:11, 12)
However, to most that is where the story ends which is not the truth in reality.
These mantles transfer the anointing and may be able to carry out an impartation of a spiritual gift. However, if one does not have the character of a mature Christian these are bound to fade.
So to maintain the anointing imparted by these, one has now to perform his own self deliverance which means one has to embark in the lifestyle of prayer and worship by himself to maintain this.
A biblical example is when Saul meets a group of prophets, he begins to prophesy with them. But as soon as he left them, the gift of prophesy left him. (1 Samuel 10:5-13)
It is, therefore, wise to work for your own anointing than to rely on borrowed anointing.
Most believers today brand themselves with wristbands and all sorts of things sold at exorbitant prices in most of these churches. All this is done in seeking divine protection.
No need to attack this but the question that remains is so how is the poor man going to get his protection? Who is going to cover him?
With self-deliverance, God’s intended plan as deliverance and protection is accessible to everyone freely.
When one gets into trouble it is important to learn to kneel and pray on your own until the disease is frustrated. Stop seeking men-of- God and instead seek God himself.
If you stay in the presence of God you will not go wrong.
Fatherhood and mentorship is important to a Christian who believes in self-deliverance. But the problem nowadays is that the whole concept of fatherhood is grossly over exaggerated as people have turned spiritual fathers into deities or gods.
It is important to note that only God is omnipresent hence when it comes to fatherhood one should have some direct link to the father that is, they should be a mutual relationship between the father and the son as the biblical relationship between Elijah and Elisha.
Many a time, people are calling men of God they only see on television or through other media their spiritual fathers. Well that is not it, if you can’t talk to or call that person or man of God, that person is simply your role model in the same way Will Smith, Naomi Campbell or Christiano Ronaldo may be role models to some.
Again through self-deliverance people are able to create a personal intimate relationship with God that is purely based on the love of God. The name of Jesus is the one that is exalted and no other name is.
The main thing that should happen when someone meets a Man of God is to receive Christ not to receive anointing oil.
After meeting a man of God a person should be transformed to go to heaven. But in the world today, people approach God only because they have problems and not for the love of Christ and if not by the grace of God, are prone to go to hell.
The Bible says, “We are not ignorant of his devices” the word devices in the original Greek text is “methodia”, which means tricks.
The Devil is using all sorts of tricks to infiltrate into the church of Jesus, that is why Jesus says “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice lawlessness’.”
Do not expect to see the Devil in the physical however, he will trick you if you are not careful, but when truths are told he stands no chance.
