A CHRISTIAN women’s fellowship, Mubatanidzwa Wemadzimai, in Zvishavane has donated to the less-privileged and female prisoners in the mining town.
Mubatanidzwa Wemadzimai held a more than 10km walk from Dadaya turn-off to Zvishavane town to raise money for stationery and uniforms for Boromokwa Primary School pupils, sanitary wear for female prisoners and groceries for 24 families.
Distribution of the goods was done at the Reformed Church of Zimbabwe on October 27.
One of the organisers, Ms Sikhangezile Ncube, said: “It wasn’t easy but we managed to pull through at the end.”
Comittee members 62-year-old Ms Ronginah Nyazika spoke on the importance of giving at the event that was themed “We must unite to help the less privileged”.
Ms Stembile Zhou Banda, a teacher at Boromokwa, said she was moved by the generous gesture that would go a long way in alleviating the book shortage at the school.
“Schoolwear will be well received by the children as the situation is pathetic,” she added said.
A member of Mubatanidzwa Wemadzimai, Ms Linda Ndlovu, said, “l am happy that we have managed to help the less-privileged and we hope to keep on helping the need in the community and the country.”
