HARARE CITY coach Mark “Mr Palm Tree” Harrison yesterday bizarrely claimed that finishing is an African problem after seeing his side miss easy chances in their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League win over Bulawayo City at Rufaro.

Substitute Martin Vengesayi scored the solitary goal with a low shot, from inside the box, after 72 minutes.

Harrison believes the game could have witnessed more goals.

“I am sure both sets of strikers could have done better,” said the Englishman.

“Actually I think finishing chances is a problem right through Africa, they can’t score goals…but anyway we will keep working.”

After a goalless first half Harrison gave his players an earful during his half time address.

“If I tell you the language I used at halftime you wouldn’t believe it. The first half was shocking. Keeping clean sheets is everything in my eyes, but don’t get me wrong we are not a defensive team we defend as a unit and attack as a unit,” he said.

The visitors’ coach Darlington Dodo concurred they were poor upfront.

“We didn’t do ourselves a favour especially in the first half,” he said.

“We controlled the game from the early stages, they were slow to settle…we were supposed to punish them. We were too elaborate in front of goal and in the end it backfired.”

Bulawayo City played a lovely a passing game but it counted for nothing with last weekend’s double scorer Ishmael Wadi particularly wasteful.
