Ngonidzashe Chandiwana

As the June 10 National Assembly elections draws near, The Sunday Mail Extra continues to profile candidates who will be contesting in the plebiscite. This week, we met with Transform Zimbabwe Political Party parliamentary candidate for Dzivarasekwa, Ngonidzashe Chandiwana, who gave us an insight on his plans for the constituency.

Q: Who is Ngonidzashe Chandiwana and can you briefly take us through your political background?

A: Reverend Ngonidzashe Chandiwana is a food science graduate from the University of Zimbabwe and also a holder of a diploma in Theology from Cornerstone Bible Academy, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Calvary in the United Kingdom and is currently studying towards a Masters in Bible Literature (MBL) from The Midlands State University.

I am also a well sought after speaker and distinguished Zimbabwean entrepreneur, a consultant nutritionist by profession and a pastor by calling. I am a life coach, speaker, communications and skills development consultant. I have travelled extensively in Southern Africa and Asia, where l hold several accolades as a renowned speaker, trainer and business builder. I also sit on the board of trustees of Reunion Cry for The Nations, which is a Christian interdenominational international organisation. I was also born in the royal family of the late Chief Chandiwana and leadership and governance is my passion and calling.

I went into active politics in 2013, at the formation of Transform Zimbabwe and l am married with two kids.

Q: What inspired you to contest in Dzivarasekwa?

A: I believe we were raised by God for such a time as this. Our party believe that as Zimbabweans, we have the capacity and ability to rebuild our nation again. If good men with value-based leadership keeps silent, evil will always prevail.

We also want to defend the liberated urban constituencies. I believe the efforts of other opposition forces need to be recognised and defended and I think the way to do it is to contest in this by-election and win.

Q: What is your promise to the constituency, in terms of development and general welfare?

A: Strong and principled leadership, entrepreneurial skills and talent identification and development in business, sports and art to mitigate unemployment and urban poverty.

Rehabilitation of infrastructure and social amenities such as roads, health and social services, psycho social support for vulnerable members of society such as orphans, the disabled and widows, gender and girl child promotion.

Q: Dzivarasekwa is one of the constituency which is still developing and in need of massive infrastructure, are you not intimidated to be taking on a seat with such great human need for assistance?

A: l am very much up to the task, the problem is basically a leadership problem. As a nation, we are blessed with natural resources and a hard-working human resource to rebuild our constituency and the nation at large. The problems we are facing are a result of poor leadership, corrupt, greedy, over recycled leaders who only think of themselves
