God has a purpose for your marriage and until you discover that purpose and apply it, you will not have fulfilment in it. Your marriage is meant to bring you great joy. Unfortunately many couples are not enjoying their marriages.

Some look back and cannot believe that the person they are living with is the same individual who used to say “I can’t sleep when I think about you.” The question is, “what put this fire off?” you don’t have to settle for an average home, you don’t have to put up with quarrelling and heartaches.

You can make your marriage work. You can have a marriage free of wounds and hurts; rather you can enjoy fulfilment and the goodness of the Lord. God wants to bring you to the realm where men and even the forces of darkness are compelled to acknowledge God’s glory that is over your family.

The key to a happy marriage is not finding the right person, it is doing the right thing. If you do what is right for your relationship, your marriage will work. If you do what is wrong everything else will go wrong.

Marriage is like a diamond, and like most precious stones one must invest time and resources to secure it and fashion it into a jewel of great price.

A good marriage is like a well-watered garden. In the garden we find a variety of plants. These plants can be converted into several other useful things. Firstly, plants in a well planted garden beautify the environment. Marriage is also meant to be beautiful. You can enjoy the beauty of marriage if you choose to. A beautiful garden can lose its beauty if it is not well looked after.

The same with our marriages, they lose their beauty if we ignore them and leave the unwanted habits and actions to grow in it. Root out bad habits and actions and you will have a beautiful marriage garden. Like in any beautiful garden, these don’t just go away, the gardener has to remove them. You too can do the same in your marriage, work at it and you will enjoy its beauty.

Secondly, some plants, like trees, provide shade from the heat of the sun and are used to prevent desertification. Your marriage can be shielded from the heat of the scotching sun that is beating many people so hard in this world today. Deserts are about dryness, thirst and hunger. Your home, your marriage is not created to suffer any of these. So walking in accordance with God’s Word will exempt you from that.

Thirdly, certain plants are used in draining excessive water from swampy areas. Marriage is therefore meant to help you curtail the excesses of life. Swampy areas breed mosquitoes and cause health hazards. All marital hazards can be taken care of by your conscious obedience to what the scriptures say about marriage. When you handle marriage the scriptural way, you are bound to prosper in every area of your life.

Fourthly, some plants bear edible fruits. Marriage in the same way is meant to give you satisfaction in life. Don’t die of hunger when you can be filled. Many married couples are dying for lack of fulfilment. It is hunger or lack of fulfilment in marriage that makes a married man or woman go outside the home to commit adultery.

Begin to tap into the treasures in your marriage and enjoy God’s best for your life. When you have issues deal with them. Sanctioning your spouse will open a door for infidelity as he or she will seek satisfaction outside and remember there are desperate people out there waiting for them. So jealously guard your marriage covenant.

Lastly, plants in the garden can be converted into several other useful things such as herbs, vegetables, paper, rubber or even firewood. Also from trees some furniture is made and houses are built. If resources in your marriage garden are profitably tapped, they make you a satisfied man or woman.

There is so much for couples to enjoy in their marriages. You don’t need to go into another person’s garden to have what you want. It is there in yours, just tend it and you will enjoy its fruit.
