MANUNURE High School netball team are the 2015 Midlands Province Stella Tea Cup Netball National representatives after a good display that saw them beating Vurasha in a nerve wrecking final at Zvishavane High school last week.

Manunure were given tough challenges in the finals when they were pitted against the Mberengwa team who had earlier beaten them 10-7 in the group stages.

Cynthia Chigame was however the toast of the day when she scored 19 goals that helped her team to win 24-20.

In the group stages the team rolled past Guinea Fowl (12-6), Cheziya (9-7) before losing to Vurasha.

“I am happy to have played a part in our victory. I am expecting to win the trophy for Midlands this time. We lost to Pamushana in the national finals and I hope this time we are going to carry the crown,” said the 16-year-old Chigame.

The centre, young Tricia Sibanda was a marvel to watch in the games and so was goal attacker Pertinia Mutsawu, goal defender Loice Sengwayo and goal shooter Chigame, who went home $50 rich for scoring most goals in the tournament.

Mutsawu got $75 when she was named player of the tournament with Sengwayo getting $50 for being voted best goal defender in the provincial finals with all participating teams getting balls.

His coach, Funani Nyamunda promised that Midlands Province will win the National Cup.

“We will be the team to beat. We are going to represent our province with honour and at the same time I would like to thank all the teams that participated against us for giving us a tough competition,” he said.

The Stella national finals will be held on the 25th of July in Marondera.Students, YOU CAN SEND YOUR ARTICLES THROUGH E-MAIL, FACEBOOK, WHATSAPP or TEXT Just app Charles Mushinga on 0772936678 or send your articles, pictures, poetry, art . . . to Charles Mushinga at [email protected] or [email protected] or follow Charles Mushinga on Facebook or @charlesmushinga on Twitter.
