TOP seed Benjamin Lock is excited at the prospect of playing two Zimbabwe F2 Futures finals when the second leg of the tournament wraps up today at Harare Sports Club.

The 24-year-old will first take on Frenchman Baptiste Crepatte in the men’s singles final on centre court at 10am, before teaming up with his American partner Nathaniel Lammons for the doubles final against compatriot Mark Fynn and his South African partner Nicolaas Scholtz.

“It’s a great problem to have and I am very really excited by the challenge of having both games. I finally get to play a singles final, at home, especially after losing in the quarter-finals last week,” Lock told The Sunday Mail Sport yesterday.

“As for our doubles, my partner and I have been playing really well throughout the week. We won last week and it’s the first time playing together.

“I think it’s going to be a good match, as Mark and Nico are good doubles players too. We played them last week in the final too, and I think it will be a tough match.”

Lock progressed to the singles final after a hard-fought 3-6 6-4 6-4 win over Kanar Jonathan of France.

“It was really tough match. I would love to say congratulations to my opponent, I give him a lot of credit for he made it very difficult for me to play the way I wanted to.

“He is a tricky player and he fought hard throughout the match. I thought in the first set I made too many errors and he did put me under a lot of pressure to do something with the ball.

“I didn’t execute, but I have been practicing the whole week with my coach. I felt he buckled when I put pressure on him and it showed in the last three games of the match.

“I kept coming forward to the net, he had chances but he was under pressure so he didn’t execute his shots well,” he said.
