Some soccer parents can get a little excited. So here’s a tip for Juergen Klinsmann, whose son Jonathan has been called into the US U-18 national team training camp in Carson: Don’t yell at the coach! Actually, that shouldn’t be a problem for Klinsmann, a former World Cup champion as a player who is busy coaching the US senior national team as it prepares to play in Brazil this June.

His son, Jonathan, one of three goalkeepers called into the youth team camp, plays for the Irvine Strikers and attends Mater Dei High.

He has verbally committed to Cal and has formerly played for the U-15 national team. The US will play two April friendlies — against Canada and Mexico —during the 10-day camp.

And while Dad will be working during that time, he has other ways of following Jonathan’s progress since Klinsmann, who is also the technical director of US Soccer, is the boss of U-18 Coach Javier Perez. — Los Angeles Times.
