Former Supreme Court judge Justice Wilson Sandura has been laid to rest.

Justice Sandura, who died in Harare last week, was buried at his rural home in Madziwa, Mashonaland Central province yesterday.

Speaking at the burial, Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa described the late legal guru as a bastion of the law who upheld a principled stance against corruption.

“The legacy he leaves behind is the fairness with which he handled the Willowgate investigation,” said Minister Chinamasa.

“He dealt with corruption without fear or favour and he shall forever be cherished for upholding the rule of law.”

Other senior Government officials and legal sector colleagues were also present.

“As academics, we relied much on the interpretation of the law, from the likes of Justice Sandura,” said constitutional law expert Professor Lovemore Madhuku.

Mrs Caroline Sandura, wife to the late, described her husband as a principled man who championed the rights of the oppressed.
