IN-DEMAND Warriors left-back Devine Lunga is trying to keep his feet on the ground despite being linked with Absa Premiership soccer clubs Kaizer Chiefs and Amazulu.

Lunga is widely expected to leave Chicken Inn following a superb show at the Cosafa Cup in South Africa, but the 23-year- old is playing it cool as speculation over his next career step goes into overdrive.

“I have heard about the interest but it’s not something that is moving me. I remain a Chicken Inn player and will continue giving my all to the club.

“If a foreign move comes through it will be a dream come true, an opportunity that one cannot turn down. Let’s just wait and see how it all goes,” he said.

Lunga is in a space he never thought he would find himself in again after his Zimbabwe debut in 2015 ended horribly.

Fate appeared to play Lunga a lousy hand when he twisted his knee an hour into the Warriors’ tie against the Comoros at the National Sports Stadium on June 21, 2015. There were fears that the Chicken Inn defender’s career would end before it even started but Lunga took it on the chin, wiped his tears and went through a gruelling rehab.

Three years later, the defender is back in the Warriors fold and toasting Cosafa success.

“After the injury, I struggled with walking and I thought my career was done,” recalled Lunga last week. “It was a very difficult time for me, but by the grace of God I managed to get over it. My family and the club stood by me and today here I am.

“I have the Cosafa Cup medal, my first in national team colours, and am looking forward to more success. I am testimony to the fact that it’s only over when God says it is over.”
