Could it be that Philip Chiyangwa has lost his marbles?
Could he be suffering from a mid-life crisis? Is he having some personal challenges? Is he out to seek attention?
All these questions have dominated the public discourse over the past month as Uncle Phil has been posting videos, some of them downright absurd. The first video to hit the social media featured Chiyangwa rapping and in typical Chiyangwa fashion, showing off his Rolls Royce.

Many might have dismissed that video as a typical Philip Chiyangwa moment.
Then he unleashed the Aunt Phyllis one. In this clip he dons a weave and due to this, some people began to question his number of marbles, with some concluding that he could be losing them one by one.

The latest is a “selfie”, which borders on being profane, in this clip he threatens to “squeeze the sh*t” out of a girl. And now the flamboyant businessman has turned the tables and launched a scathing attack on people who have been “stealing” his “personal” videos and posting them online.

The Big Guy, as he calls himself, said he does not have the capacity to post videos online.
“I do not even know how to post a video on Facebook or YouTube,” fumed Chiyangwa.

He added: “This is the work of people who just get too excited. That material was not meant for public consumption, if it was meant for public consumption, I would be charging a lot of money for people to download and watch those videos.”

Chiyangwa said he was contemplating selling his image rights.
“I am thinking of giving the rights to my videos, in fact, all image rights to an international company so that if anyone abuses those videos anymore, they get sued. Who is benefiting from the traffic on websites generated by my videos? I am not benefiting and those parasite websites are now eating my money,” said Chiyangwa.

Chiyangwa, who has done a feature film alongside two-time Big Brother Africa contestant Munya Chidzonga, says people should understand that he is an actor.

“I am an actor. I am in the film industry. But there are people now who are taking material that is not meant for the public and posting it online. Even when I’m jogging in the morning you see people taking out their phones, it’s because I’m famous and they abuse that,” he said.

However, in a separate interview with our sister paper, B-Metro, Chiyangwa admitted to filming himself to inspire and teach “brothers and sisters in the diaspora”.

“The first video was not meant for the public, but people liked it, that’s why it has gone viral. So, expect more of those videos. I have decided to give some psychological cue to our relatives in the diaspora. They probably do not believe that we are living a normal life,” he said.

“Common sense should tell people that the video was not meant for public consumption, but I must say that I am pleasantly surprised by people’s penchant for that video,” he said.

Chiyangwa said the first video was shot while he was on his way to Bulawayo to address Bulawayo Polytechnic hospitality students and the clip went viral before he even arrived in the city.

“I think my guys shared with some family members and friends. From there, it was uploaded on Facebook and YouTube.”
In the video, Chiyangwa, who is riding on a Rolls Royce Ghost Series II, introduces himself as The Big Guy who is driving all the way to Bulawayo. The evidently fun- and life-loving Chiyangwa shows off the interior of his sleek car while dancing to lowly played music in what he calls a “one-time-drive show”.

The Big Guy’s Rolls Royce has an in-built fridge loaded with drinks.
Chiyangwa says: “I am a fun- loving man. In that video I was just celebrating life.”

In the second video, Chiyangwa shows the interior of his nicely furnished house and more than 14 pairs of shoes while sharing with people what he calls a “nice econometrical message”.

Econometrics is the application of mathematical and statistical techniques to financial problems and theories.
He says: “You know life is a b***, you might not accept that, but that’s what it is. I have grown up in a very dangerous way. I don’t want you to repeat how I grew up.”

Chiyangwa urges people to follow their instinct when they are to venture into any business rather than following other people’s thoughts because other ideas are just bankrupt. He urges people to plan in business and maintain a key of what they want to do.

Chiyangwa said although the first video was not meant for public consumption, it has conveniently shown him that people admire his style.
“I am sure the video exposed the other side of Chiyangwa which people didn’t know.

“The Chiyangwa they know is a man they read about in the newspapers. They have judged me using the little information they have got. No one has ever bothered to find out the social side of me.

“I am sure people can now pick the pieces of me and decide what kind of a person I am.”
