A 50-year-old self-proclaimed prophet is believed to have lured two 11-year-old boys to his shrine in Kadoma with a promise to give them US$4 before sodomising each of them four times.
Regiment Tirivangani of Gumbe Village in Kwekwe was arrested last week.

Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the case, saying Tirivangani promised to reward the boys US$2 each if they accompanied him to his shrine for “prayers”.
“We have arrested Tirivangani and are carrying out investigations to determine whether there are any other victims,” said Insp Mabgweazara.

It is understood that on the afternoon of September 1 2012, Tirivangani visited a house where the minors live and asked for a place to sleep.
The two boys are said to have turned down his request, arguing that both their parents were away.

It was then that Tirivangani allegedly asked them to accompany him to his shrine for prayers.
At the shrine, the self-proclaimed prophet is said to have prayed. He later told the minors to spend the night at the shrine since it was late for them to return home.

The boys agreed after Tirivangani, it is alleged, told them that no harm would befall them as they were going to sleep on “holy ground”.
It is further alleged that Tirivangani woke up deep into the night and sodomised the boys and threatened to kill them if they reported the matter.
However, both victims reported the heinous act to their parents soon after Tirivangani set them free the following morning.
