Shamiso Yikoniko
Boyfriend to girlfriend: I hear you flunked your English examination?
Girlfriend: Who telled you?

That girlfriend could easily be Maneta, the Zimbabwean housemate in the Big Brother Africa Stargame. For her English, and general intelligence, is rather on the low.
Usually when something in the house gets her better side, she remarks:  “That one finished me.”
But this one has to take the cup: “You know me, I don’t have tomorrow”! meaning, I tell it as I see it, literally translated from Shona, unondiziva ini, handina mangwana.
Although some viewers have commended her for the beauty, most have dismissed her as a beauty without brains.

And her constant criticisms of Zimbabwe have not helped.
She has previously attacked the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra), accusing the institution of corruption, ZBC for alleged poor quality service and dismissed fellow Zimbabwean housemate Roki as a loser.

Never before, in the history of Big Brother Africa, has any Zimbabwean representative had such a negative view of her own country like Maneta.
Viewers, both local and regional, have been treated to a variety of venomous jabs that have been directed at her country, fellow countryman Roki, half sister, her fellow housemates and, mostly recently, her former employers Zimra and ZBC.

She remarked recently: “I worked for one of the most corrupt companies in Zimbabwe — a company called Zimra . . . ”
Her behaviour, while raising the ire of her countrymen, has also raised questions on the criteria used by Multichoice Zimbabwe to select representatives from the countries.
After claiming to be romantically involved with a Harare businessman, Maneta again turned her nastiness on to Roki, remarking:

“His (Roki) main problem is that we are the only two people who come from the same country.
“He feels threatened by me that he has to bring me down all the time . . . I will kill that guy, I will stab him to death.

“His arrogance, I want to wipe that smirk off his face. I want to cut off his tongue so that he never speaks again.”
Roki has since dismissed her as somebody studying for a degree in “stupidity’’.
