Guruve Prison’s Xmas Gift

Religion Correspondent —
AS part of Christmas celebrations the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God donated clothes and groceries to prisoners in Guruve through its programme Stop Suffering Help Centre (SSHC).

This was also largely due to the realization that vulnerable people and those in need away from the big cities rarely get considered for assistance.

The UCKG founding Bishop Justice Colidiza donated uniforms and shoes as well as toiletries to the prisoners.

“The main reason why Stop Suffering Help Centre was established by the UCKG was to attend to the needs of the needy. The SSHC is therefore a social wing of the UCKG. It is therefore our mandate to offer a helping hand where we can.

“In any given community we make a survey to assess the needs through the relevant authorities and then assist accordingly. It came to our knowledge through the Reverend Chaplin General, that Guruve was one of the prisons in great need of clothing and toiletries.

“The inmates are as important as any other being as they are souls. Hence they should be remembered as anyone society.

“However, the emphasis should not be in the gifts alone for they will finish with time. But more important to give to the inmates is the Lord Jesus Christ, because he will stay with them and live in them, giving them peace even while in prison,” said Bishop Colidiza.

“It is by God’s purpose that you guys are here. It’s not like you are cursed or we don’t love you. The reason why we came up with the idea of Stop Suffering Help Centre is you. These Christmas gifts are a resemblance of our love to you.

“God has remembered you through us. We have come to show you that you are not an isolate, we have you in our minds and being here is just the beginning of a new life,” said Bishop Colidiza.

The Officer in charge at Guruve Prison, Mr. Joseph Ndlovu expressed gratitude to SSHC for the donations.

“Actually, it was a great challenge that even gave us sleepless nights because though these people are prisoners it wasn’t fair to see them walking naked like they used to do before you donated these beautiful uniforms to us.”

Guruve Prison has 167 inmates.
