IT’S a beast that is designed to charm most smartphone lovers both in looks and specs, prompting us to compare the latest offering from the recently launched power dynamite from Huawei — the Huawei Mate 8.
Unfortunately, the new Gtel is not yet readily available in stock, though samples were happily exchanging hands during the launch.

Speaking during the official launch in Bulawayo last week. GTel chief executive officer Mr Chamu Shumba said the latest offering has all the best specifications that warrants it to be the flagship of the company.

“We believe in a world that is brighter, sharper, more convenient, and more fun. We strive to deliver on that vision with the SL8 by marrying elegant design with functionality and providing a seamless smartphone experience.

“We empower consumers with technology to help them get more out of life and will continue to push the frontier of what’s possible,” he said.

The SL8 introduces an 8-megapixel front camera, but the real star is the 16-megapixel shooter on the back that incorporates PDAF, delivering brighter and sharper images, even in low light. Thanks to the revolutionary brighter lens with wider aperture, and bigger pixel, the camera has a faster shutter speed and a more accurate autofocus even in low-light conditions

The smooth carved shape, screen display resolution, antenna technology, fingerprint technology and proprietary software programmes to run the hardware like video editing breaks new ground with the new product.

Unfortunately, the company has however made it all metal coated and dumped the beautiful front and back glass style from the SL5.1 and 5.5 series which really redefined beauty in smartphones.

The new battery is a 3000mAh, half the size of the predecessor on X3, which makes the phones lighter for those who never enjoyed the bulkiness from X3 but it seems it comes with low battery life as well.

The market waits to see of the new smartphone will beat the all-time powerful camera from the Gtel SL 5.5 under low light and flashing conditions as they also stand to beat the best smartphone camera they have ever launched to date.
