Government will continue supporting private sector initiatives that contribute to national development objectives, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said.

Addressing over 35 000 people at a ground-breaking ceremony for the 15 000-seat St Noah College Stadium and Sports Centre in Marange today, President Mnangagwa said such infrastructure development activities were undertaken by visionaries.

The sports centre is the brainchild of St Noah Taguta of the Johane Marange Apostolic Church.

President Mnangagwa said, “As Government, we have the responsibility to create these infrastructure facilities, but we are also happy we have churches that are taking this responsibility.

He hailed the Johane Marange Apostolic Church for its role in increasing literacy by building educational facilities.

The church, he said, had constructed a rural school whose standards easily surpassed those of some urban institutions.

“Ndisati ndapinda mune zvamandikokera kuuya kuno, ndinoda kumbopa imwe nhorovondo nokuti handisi muenzi pano,”he said.
