Harare City…………………………. 0

MARK HARRISON took his refreshing brand of football to the resort town of Kariba yesterday.

His Harare City boys passed it around but, in the end, it ended goalless at a sunny Nyamhunga.

Harare City have convinced many neutrals with their sleek passing game and yesterday they got a new admirer in the form of former Warriors keeper Chenjerai Dube who applauded Harrison at the end of the match.

Dube is now part of Godfrey Tamirepi’s always under-fire technical team.

ZPC Kariba also had their moments especially in the second half and Collen Muleya should have been on the score- sheet late on but he skied his effort from a very close range.

Football is won by goals and not purposeless passing and Harrison should have realised it yesterday although the Briton acknowledged it was a point gained rather two points dropped for the Sunshine Boys who have now gone for three matches without a win.

Harare City went into yesterday’s match on the back of two defeats against Ngezi Platinum Stars and Highlanders.

“Nobody likes to lose two games on the bounce, that’s for sure. It was important that we stopped it, we kept a clean sheet as well after conceding five in our last two games which is also important to us.

“There are a lot of positives to take from today’s game. It’s not an easy place to come here. They make it pretty difficult for you, second half they made it really difficult with their long balls,” Harrison said.

The draw took Harare City’s tally to 25 points, 15 short of their season target of 40 points.

For ZPC Kariba the draw meant that Tamirepi has now gone for three matches without tasting defeat after registering two consecutive wins prior to this game.

Slowly, ZPC Kariba have been clawing their way from the red zone and with 19 points they look pretty safe for now.

Strangely Tamirepi is never safe and yesterday there were some who felt the home team did not do enough.

“We created some few chances but we couldn’t score. It was a frustrating result,” said Tamirepi whose job has always been on the line since Match Day One of the 2018 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
