2017 enrolment on, prep school opens
MANY invest in sending their children abroad to Europe just to enjoy the upmarket education we offer at George Emmanuel College High (GEC). Deportment, integrity and success are rare qualities found in students in one plate.
GEC is a Private High school in Westgate, Harare along Old Mazowe road, registered with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. The school was founded with the aim of instilling in young people the value of Education for life.
The very essence of GEC is to teach and provide high quality and relevant education to all teenagers academically and through sports and culture.
George Emmanuel College’s existence is to educate, revive and motivate the teenagers in a classic way and to ensure that they prepare for a better tomorrow.
FORM 1 ENROLMENT IN PROGRESS
Form 1 enrolment is the most crucial part of the academic life of every parent. This is the time when parents are to make choices for their dear daughters and sons that will either see their children’s careers up there or destroyed for life.
Most schools would either focus on sporting activities or academics but the question is ‘is it all that makes a better person?’ Some parents would consider what they call reputable schools depending on their individual beliefs.
Reputable schools maybe in terms of how much school fees the school is asking for (obviously very expensive schools), with a benefit of keeping up appearances. Some parents would look at the ‘best’ in terms of pass rate rating.
But why would you expect a student who had 4 – 5 units in grade seven not to get at least five ‘C’ grades at ‘O’ level?
Don’t you think some school would get 100% pass rate because on enrolment they had taken 100% cream of the nation. When ZIMSEC says 100% pass rate they mean at least a C or Better.
For a parent who had a child with 4 units at grade 7 would he/she say their child have passed when they get five C’s? Food for thought.
Some parents would take their (9) nine unit children into a class where there are only 4 unit students.
This would be destroying their children further, for the assumption from the teacher is ‘I am teaching very fast learners’ hence they use facilitation. Facilitation is a system where students are guided through the syllabus without teaching, whereas teaching is the system of transferring knowledge from one person to the next and it is a process.
Maybe the child got the 9 units through hard work from the Primary teacher. That’s where GEORGE EMMANUEL COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL comes in!!!!!!!!

Academic success is incredibly important to us as GEC High School.
We do not measure success through extra curriculum activities alone but we put as much emphasis on what our pupils become and what they achieve.

Our teacher pupil ratio is minimal, though we believe its not always a solution, but identifying the areas of strength and weaknesses and correcting those that are causing poor results.

We provide the best meals five times a day. Our students do not bring tuck (groceries).

We offer CAMBRIDGE and ZIMSEC examinations. We produce study literature that is in line with the syllabus requirements for CAMBRIDGE and ZIMSEC. We use both direct and E- learning for our study material. We take all subjects including French and Food Science.
We have highly qualified, motivated teachers. The majority of our teachers are examiners, and they use their expertise to coach, teach and guide students on exam tips, approach and techniques.
