Feedback on ‘Prophet bans tithe, calls it devil’s work.’ Sunday Mail

The Sunday Mail

Tithing should be paid, it is according to the word of God.There can be no revelation of the Holy Ghost that contradicts the Word for they are One.
LAST week, we carried a story titled ‘Prophet bans tithe, calls it devil’s work.’
In the story, a self-proclaimed prophet, Prince Wonderful highlighted that leaders of various churches who collect tithes are destined for hell.
Find below responses from different sectors of the community.
Pastor TB Gapa Church of God (Global Truth Fellowship)
Prophet Wonderful is right. I am a Pastor who has the same revelation – sure there no founders, presidents. The church is of God and it never ceased to exist such that someone found it again. I have got good news to the nation concerning apostasy like mass deception. God will help us, the truth will always remain the truth even if few people believe it.

I am intrigued by this line of thinking. I would like to get the contacts of this person for further engagements if possible.

The information by the Pastor you wrote in The Sunday Mail is a revelation from God. I would like to support what this pastor said. This issue is very sensitive, it intrigues war with some so-called pastors. Because these pastors survive on the tithes and are busy milking the saints of God. Christians should study the word of God and desist from accepting anything at face value. The Old Testament is very clear on tithing. Christians are guided by the new covenant which is Christ. In the new covenant, there is no mention of tithing by Christians.
Christ did not emphasise tithing in his preaching but He left us a new covenant of loving each other. If tithing was so important for us gentiles, Christ could have highlighted it categorically in His preaching, but it was not so. In Acts 15 v 6-11, Peter rebuked his fellow Jew Christians who wanted gentile Christians to follow regulations according to the Law of Moses. He tells them that Christians were not to follow regulations which even their forefathers failed to adhere to. Their forefathers, the earlier Jews failed to pay tithes to God (Malachi 3). God was angry with them because of this. As Christians, we were not called to follow regulations and rituals of Jews but to follow Christ.
This is why Christ says, take my yoke because it’s light. It is not like the Jewish yoke which is heavy. These pastors are taking the Christians back to the old covenant which even the chosen nation of God failed to follow. We follow the giving from the heart. This is clearly stated in 2 Corinthians 9 v 7. It states that, every man should give what he has decided in his heart to give.

Amen (The) Sunday Mail, I have the same revelation. Yes bless the spirit. Where exactly do these people fellowship in Harare?
Former Prophet Kahari’s pastor
In response to your article in The Sunday Mail of 27 December 2015, the issue raised by Prophet Wonderful aka Prophet Wellington Kahari, I would like to take a swipe on the fly by night so-called prophets being raised by satan to cause confusion and despondency in the Christian fraternity. My first question to the prophet is, when was he born again? How long did he train as a pastor? Which Bible school did he attend? I know this prophet personally, he is from Bindura.
The guy was declared a prophet in 2013 by a Bishop from Kenya. From those declarations, he went on to start his church. This fake prophet is misleading people, his arguments are baseless.
Why is it that he closed a church that the Holy Spirit had started? What confusion! Which Spirit was he operating under? Is this guy in his normal senses or he is having a mental problem? What is the purpose of tithe? Why do people pay tithe? Is there any connection between tithe and salvation? Was there any need to collect tithes for Jesus when there were institutions meant for that? Was Abraham not the father of all the nations, he paid tithes not in the name of God as Kahari is purporting but thought Christ (Melchizedek). This is strange doctrine.

Thank you (The) Sunday Mail Religion for the article, your section is very informative. So many people have unknowingly found themselves trapped in these so-called churches and ministries that are led by masquerades, people who are on God’s wanted list.
Many people will go to the lake of fire unaware because they despise wisdom that comes by learning the word of God —with the Holy Spirit being the teacher. John 16:13 says, “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come.”
So the teacher is Holy Spirit; the syllabus is Jesus Christ and the classroom is New Testament.

I heard you, we are sick and tired of those churches that demand tithes and offerings. I decided to stay at home. This thing (of tithes) has caused the church to be divided because if you put a fat envelope on the table you get praised by the church members and it gives the pastor or the one who get tithes a difficult task to warn you if you are against the Bible, especially the dress code for females.THANK YOU!!!

Brethren in Christ, I believe and trust this prophet who has banned tithes knows the truth and may the grace of our Lord Jesus shine more truths for the world salvation. Yours in Christ. Amen

Tithing should be paid, it is according to the word of God.There can be no revelation of the Holy Ghost that contradicts the Word for they are One. The issues however to be debated is the administration or function of the tithe.
lt becomes wrong when it is abused. In the old days, it was given to the Levitical priesthood,(for the reading that economically they where disadvantaged for they were not issued land). Apostle Paul was working and surviving with his own labour.  Christians must tithe.

It is confusing yet there are real facts in it. We are surprised by mushrooming churches, it’s all about collecting money, suddenly those church ministers are driving expensive cars, flying, living luxuriously. Thanks for this article.
Pastor Ezekiel Mbedzi
I am very interested in your revelations when it comes to tithing. I need more on this topic. So it’s unscriptural to tithe in the New Testament?
