THE Dynamos Annual General Meeting is set to go ahead after High Court Judge Priscilla Chigumba yesterday threw out an urgent application by a faction led by Ernest Kamba. Kamba and his group which includes Misheck Chidzambwa, Moses Chunga, Makwinji Soma-Phiri and five others had approached the High Court seeking to be allowed to take part at today’s meeting.
However, their efforts yesterday came to naught as Justice Chigumba ruled that their application was not urgent and that there was no evidence to prove that Kamba and crew were shareholders in Dynamos Football Club (Pvt) Ltd.
Dynamos lawyer Brian Mataruka of Gill, Godlonton and Gerrans said the AGM will now proceed as scheduled in the capital this morning.
“The judge dismissed the matter on the basis that it was not urgent because the applicants had the opportunity, for the past seven AGMs, to contest but did not do so,” said Mataruka.
“The judge also said the application was fatally defective because it did not comply with form 29 of the High Court rule which sets out requirements for urgent applications.
“She also noted that there was no proof that Kamba and his colleagues are shareholders in Dynamos Football Club (Pvt) Ltd,” said Mataruka.
Last week, the Kamba-led group said they will give the AGM a chance and will attend to air their grievances with the current leadership.
However, Marriot slammed the door on them, saying they were not welcome to attend the meeting as they are not shareholders.
Dynamos’ performance last season looks set to feature prominently at today’s AGM.
Meanwhile, the team is set to commence pre-season training tomorrow where they will be joined by about 20 players who impressed coach Lloyd Mutasa during last week’s trials.
Former Soccer Star of the Year Tawanda Muparati who failed to shine after swapping the Glamour Boys for How Mine is being linked with a return to DeMbare.
DeMbare have lost promising midfielder Bret Amidu to FC Platinum as well as Godknows Murwira and Dominic Mukandi to Ngezi Platinum.
Chances are high that defender Elisha Muroiwa and goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva, who are at the Africa Cup of Nations, will seek greener pastures after the continental showcase.
