Divine Appointments: Fighting for your own Moses

The Sunday Mail

“THE vigorous woman” was the theme of the Sophia Women during this year’s sixth edition of the Thanksgiving Conference which was recently held in Harare.
Sophia Women of Jesus Power Christian Ministries are taught to be gatekeepers, to safeguard their marriages and children, and to be women of influence who touch other people’s lives.
JPCM is an interdenominational ministry affiliated to the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe with a vision to raise prayerful men and women.
The conference was attended by women from the church’s branches in Harare, Ruwa, Hwedza and Bulawayo, and Pastor (Mrs) Nneka Madusolumuo was the keynote speaker.
On the final day, Pastor (Mrs) Madu (pictured right) delivered a sermon titled, “Fighting for my own Moses” based on the birth of Moses in Exodus 1:15-22, 2:1-9.
Below are highlights of Pastor (Mrs) Madu’s sermon on the last day of the conference:
For every child of God, there is a Moses that you need to contend with, and it is the will of God for each and every one of us to fight for our own Moses. There are Pharaohs everywhere, looking for your very Moses, but it is in your hand as a child of God, it is in your hand as a vigorous woman or man to be able to stand and fight for your own Moses.
Anything and everything that is standing against the knowledge of God in your life, His rulership and the understanding of the ways of God in your life, is your Pharaoh. You are the one that will stand and challenge that obstacle. If you don’t challenge it, that thing will make it difficult for you to fulfil your destiny.
The Bible says that Jochebed, whose name means Jehovah is glorious or honourable, was the mother of Aaron, Miriam and Moses, who became great personalities in the service of the Lord.
When she gave birth to Moses, she discerned that he was not like Aaron, neither was he like Miriam. She observed that he was too special and made up her mind that whatever it would take for her, Moses would not be killed by Pharaoh.
Jochebed was also a woman of understanding. When you lack understanding, it brings destruction. Most people live anyhow as they lack understanding.
Not only that, Jochebed remained in the presence of the Lord. She lived and fulfilled her name. She was never a stranger before the Lord. But what we now have in our days is that most women are strangers in the presence of God, just making demands. The moment they leave the house of God, they are strangers, forgetting that it’s only when they tarry and stay in fellowship, that God will speak.
So, what is your Moses? In Biblical times, Moses was a human being, a male child born into the family of Levites, ordained from the womb to be a deliverer. But in our days, your own life is your Moses. Your home and family are your own Moses; your career, business, finances – they are your Moses; all your loved ones not yet born again, are your Moses. The body of Christ in our days is your Moses. Your community is your Moses. Your nation and Africa are your Moses.
Remember that satan never married and will never marry, and he is doing whatever it takes to destroy and scatter marriages, homes and lives.
Because God is a God of purpose, He created all of them for a reason. So, it is the will of God for you and for me to stand and contend for those destinies so that they come to fulfilment.
The will of God was that Moses would deliver the children of Israel from Egyptian bondage. Thus, whatever it takes to fulfil God’s destiny, you should do it.
You need to stand up like Jochebed did. It was only when she said that she would not give up and refused that the children of Israel remain in slavery that God started positioning people.
God went to the midwives (Shiphrah and Puah) and touched them. He also positioned Miriam. God also positioned Zipporah, Moses’ wife (Exodus 4:24-26).
God is a God of war. So, don’t give up on your children, marriage and or your business. Hand over Godly standards to the next generation. The Pharaohs are there to make it difficult to spread the gospel, but God will not allow them, just like He did during Moses’ time.
During Moses’ time, there was a physical Pharaoh, but in our days, there are spiritual Pharaohs everywhere, and they are increasing – scheming and devising.
They use various means but still have the same ministry to steal our destiny, to kill and destroy. So, you are the ones that has to stand. Examples include:
Increase of demonic oppression.
Immoral lifestyle is increasing everywhere.
Pharaoh’s agents these days are making sin look like normal lifestyle. That is why people sin anyhow, without feeling guilty.
In homes, the enemy is keeping parents too busy, so that the children are left alone, watching any TV channels, including pornography. The enemy has kept parents too busy. They gather money, but the people they are gathering money for are already serving satan.
How do we fight them? The starting point is to be born again. You must know Jehovah, the God that will fight for you. Jochebed knew Jehovah, the God of Israel. She knew what He can do. When the decree in Exodus 1, was issued, she did not bother. She was busy asking God for wisdom and a strategy to keep Moses alive.
The Bible says that we are not fighting a physical, but a spiritual warfare. And for you to enter the spiritual realm and fight, you must stand on the victory that Jesus has given us when He went on the cross.
As you come to Jesus, continue to maintain and have a strong relationship with Him, like Jochebed.
So, there must be a strong prayer altar where you empty yourself: “God, the enemy is fighting my destiny! God intervene!”
We need to know how to tarry in the presence of God. We tarry through the word of God – reading and studying the Word.
You cannot locate it outside the Word of God. Your prayer altar must always be burning, seven days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Romans 12:2 means, we cannot use worldly weapons to fight spiritual warfare. We cannot use Satan’s weapons to fight him. He will defeat us.
We must also maintain a life of holiness and righteousness. Righteousness is a covering. When you maintain Godly living, there will be glory all over and the enemy cannot penetrate.
You must be obedient to Godly counsel, and also be submissive, if you want to win the war.
Finally, Jochebed was just like you, but because God was with her, she was able to overcome.
