DEVON CHAFA’S sister has blue blood running through her and it is with a heavy heart that Jane Chafa will be rallying behind the green of Caps United this afternoon.

Jane is Devon’s older sister and a staunch Dynamos fan. She rarely misses DeMbare’s matches. Before Devon landed on the green side of the capital, Jane never imagined that the day would come when she would have to support DeMbare’s bitter rivals.

“Zvichindirwadza nekundisvota hazvo, Kepekepe bhora (As much as it hurts and annoys me, go Caps United go),”Jane posted on Facebook last week along with pictures of her brother.

Yesterday she told The Sunday Mail Sport a covenant she made with Devon as they grew up in Mbare, Harare.

“When we were young we promised to be on each other’s side no matter the situation,” said Jane. “I love him, he loves me and we have been true to that pact all these year and there is no way I cannot let him down now. Yes I know there are some DeMbare fans who say that they will be supporting TP Mazembe but for me that is not the case.

“Yes, I love DeMbare. Yes, I don’t like Makepekepe. But Devon is my blood and I will be in his corner. And one thing I know is when Caps United are defeated I will be hurting more than my brother because I love him.”Devon has risen to be a key component of the Green Machine, providing steel to a midfield that has gifted ball players. The 26–year-old midfielder brings into the dressing room a wealth of experience having featured in the CAF Champions League during his days with Dynamos.

In Lubumbashi last weekend as TP Mazembe sought to exploit a rather lightweight Makepekepe left flank, Chafa used a break in play to snap back Phineas Bhamusi and Valentine Musarurwa.

Prior to their “emergency meeting” with Chafa the pair looked lost in cauldron Stade TP Mazembe.“Devon is a real trooper and his experience is always handy,” said Caps United assistant coach Tostao Kwashi after the 1-all first leg draw last weekend.
