Dynamos yesterday launched an ambitious membership drive aimed at helping the club tap into the millions of supporters it boasts of across the country. Speaking at the launch which was attended by a number of stakeholders among them, patron Webster Shamu, board members and supporters, chairman Kenny Mubaiwa said the drive will usher in a new era that will see fans getting up close and personal with the club.

“Dynamos are known to have an estimated support of seven million, but who are they and where do we find them?
“The membership card we are launching will enable us to know the official supporters of the club. Once we are well organised, it will be easier for us to communicate activities of the club.

“The benefits of the general card will include receiving official team news from time to time so that they don’t have to rely on social media, which in most cases does not have accurate news,” said Mubaiwa.

Shamu, who is also the Minister of Information Communication Technology and Postal and Courier Services, congratulated the club for launching the membership drive and urged supporters to support the “noble idea”.

“I urge our supporters to buy and subscribe to this card. If one doesn’t have it, it means that their support is not with the club and the club is not benefiting anything from their purported support,” said the patron.

His sentiments were echoed by the team’s national supporters’ association representative Moses Chikwariro.
The membership card, which does not come with free entry into matches, costs $5 annually.
