CHAMPIONS Dynamos yesterday shot to the top of the Castle Premier Soccer League courtesy of a goalless draw with a plucky Chicken Inn at Barbourfields.

DeMbare, who went into the match on a high following last Sunday’s 1-0 defeat of Highlanders, took their points tally to 23; one more than second placed Hwange and third placed How Mine who are both in action today.

While their stay at the top might last for only 24 hours the fact that Dynamos are in the championship mix despite struggling to get into groove this season will give coach Kallisto Pasuwa and his men a lot of confidence.

Pasuwa went into battle with the same starting XI that dismissed Bosso but it was Chicken Inn who had a brighter start.
DeMbare goalie Artwell Mukandi made a series of crucial saves in the opening half hour as the defensive quartet of Blessing Moyo, Partson Jaure, Themba Ndlovu and Ocean Mushure failed to deal with the hosts’ sleek moves.

DeMbare’s situation was not helped by the ineffectiveness of the defensive midfield pairing of Stephen Alimenda and Devon Chafa.
Former Soccer Star of the Year Clemence Matawu was a menace but his efforts were not complemented by his teammates.

Pasuwa was happy with a point taken away from home and admitted Chicken Inn were the better side.
“We had to pick up a point since the opposition played well. We missed a number of clear cut goal scoring opportunities and we have to work on it,” he said.

Chicken Inn gaffer Joey Antipas reckoned a draw was the fairest result for his side.
“This was an evenly contested match, a draw is a fair result,” said the much travelled gaffer.
