Christian Youth – Easter: Ultimate feast for Christians

I firmly believe that Easter is the ultimate feast for Christians.

I say this because our faith is based upon the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Without Christ rising from the dead there would be no Christian faith. It is therefore imperative for us as young believers to reflect and take a moment to consider the sacrifice that was mad for us and the faithfulness of our God in fulfilling His promises.

Last week I mentioned that we would tackle some of the abuses that people go through. But today, I have chosen to focus on Easter and then deal with those issues at a later date.

What is the significance of Easter to a young person living in Zimbabwe where each day is literally a walk of faith? Jobs are difficult to come by, for those who are employed salaries come late sometimes. Some dropped out of school because of unpaid school fees. Most of those who graduate are not even sure what the future holds for them.

It can be very frustrating to have so much energy and drive and yet have nowhere to express it in a productive and effectual manner.

Some have resorted to the thug life – alcohol, drugs and rowdy behaviour being their way of life in a bid to appease the frustrations and exhaust the energies of youth. Others (both young men and women) have resorted to prostitution while others have taken the “small house” route in search of money from rich men. Easter signifies hope for you. All that Jesus did lead up to His work at Calvary. Christ actually prayed for you whilst He was in the garden of Gethsemane in John 17. He was ridiculed, spat on and mocked, he was made to wear a crown of thorns.

They beat Him to the extent that His bones were visible. He shed blood whilst He hung on the cross. He eventually died and they buried Him in a tomb. But the story doesn’t end there, Jesus rose from the dead on the third day and is alive today as we speak.

You don’t have to resort to unruly behaviour. Can you imagine how the disciples must have felt when they saw Him dying on the cross? It must’ve been a terrible experience, I can only imagine how I would have reacted if I had gone through that.

Despite that dark and gloomy situation, there was hope because God had spoken and guaranteed the salvation of men. Christ rose from the dead and today we rejoice in His resurrection. No matter how gloomy your circumstance, God has a plan for you. If He could raise Jesus from the dead, then He can raise your situation from whatever grave it might be buried in. You don’t have to resort to ungodly means to get by. Don’t give up hope if you have lost your way and feel hopeless.

As you are reading this article decide to leave that lifestyle behind, give your life to God, surrender your situation to Him and chose to live for Him. I believe that God is about to resurrect your life. Trust Him today and receive the gift of everlasting life.

The reason why Jesus went through so much pain and suffering was so that you don’t have to experience it. Do not allow the hope inside of you to die. As Christians during this Easter period we can only but believe and thank God that He is faithful and true to His word.

Jesus Himself was willing to go through all that He went through because He knew that He would rise from the dead according to the word of God.

During this season take time to refocus and meditate upon the great gift of God. One key element that you must always remember is that God doesn’t consider age or gender or the level of education when answering prayers. So today, right now, take the time to call on Him, I know He will answer. The promise of God is that whoever accepts Jesus into their hearts will receive eternal life (John3:s16) and that whoever calls on Him He will answer (Jeremiah33:3).

Till next time…. God bless
