Poetic immortality

Donald Kuutsi
Harare Polytechnic College
Poetry of the earth doesn’t Die Said frost Poetry,
Mirror of the soul that unleashes the reflection of
emotions hidden inside the heart
Poetry the hotline of emotions
The art of bleeding out emotions
Ink and thoughts spill on paper amplifying what
the mouth refuses to say
Realm of Immortality
Thoughts go beyond the boundaries of infinity
Poetry literature legacy
Crown of wisdom that existed and will continue
to exist
From generation to generation being passed on
like a hereditary monarchical crown
Even if Ab Banjo Patterson, Mary Gilmore, Maya
Angelou are gone
Their Poetic reflection shine on the realm of the future
Shading light to all generations
A new Horizon,
Birth of a new Poetic Generation
Wisdom being passed from Generation to
generation as legacy
Paving way for Poetic Immortality.

Proudly Zimbabwean!

Estroge Chirowodza
St Mary’s High School
Of ups and downs, of ins and outs
Of they’re in the wrong and we’re in the right
But worry not blessed Zimbabwe
You are great, and you will shine bright
Zimbabwean I am, so Zimbabwean you are
African I am, so African you are

Stand up tall, Zimbabwe be proud
Because of your wisdom, your name shall echo loud
Work hard and the world shall applaud.
Go forth clothed in magnificent divine
That angelic pureness which admits no stain
Go, bid proud West his rule resign
And humble masses take thy reign.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained

Toil and strive anointed mankind
To wise youth it pleasures yields:
Take your hoes and till the fields.
Let’s not rest or sleep in the shade
Or waste time tossing in bed.
The path of sleeping leads but to the grave
All we were supposed to eat we won’t have
But bold we stand, for Africans we are brave

Zimbabwean you are, Zimbabwean I am
African I am, African you are
Remember the past, the liberation war
It’s you my elders to whom I call
Remember the goals, remember the reasons,
Why multitudes suffered in the prisons
For Zimbabwe, for a brighter future.
It’s to you that I leave this message
That no longer should we live in bondage

The rights are empire know your claim
Feel defined and if debated not lost
Zimbabwe, withdraw not yourself from that fame
Your shunning wisdom: let it be reverrred the most
If we stand strong, and then we will see
What our future Zimbabwe would turn out to be
Not saying this, nothing would delight me
While I conceal my fright, no word can shake me.

To be happier, we dare not expire
Nor can we fall lower, mounting no higher
Let’s go forward, looking back
Striding like a colossus
Fear nothing, none can shake us

Shine bright, spark as sunlight
Serve as a lamp, when the world is in a dark night.
From our suppressors we shall not flight
But stand up for our rights
Zimbabwe spark, Africa shine, you are a light
And you can’t lose to lose this fight

We will fly so high for we can
We think we can and indeed we can
Zimbabwean you are, Zimbabwean i am
Fills me with glamorous delight
I AM PROUDLY ZIMBABWEAN!
