BISHOP LAZARUS: The cowards are back in town

The first to speak in tongues were a section of war veterans a few weeks back and this Bishop was shocked because all along it seemed as these revolutionary fighters always stand for Zimbabweai??i??s integrity.

This weekai??i??s sermon comes from 1 Corinthians 14 vs 2 and vs 13.

Zanu-PF is again speaking in tongues and we are back to those unfortunate days where accusations and counter-accusations are thrown around with the bravado of cowards who will not name names.

Remember those days when Zanu-PF officials would whisper in the dark that Mai Mujuru and her team were up to something yet no one had the courage to tell her. Those days when Mai Mujuru as Tocky Vibes (yes this Bishop knows his dancehall very much) would put it ai???vanga vaenda nenyikaai???. It was so near for her wasnai??i??t it?

Then came First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe. Without fear she blew the myth to smithereens and boldly named and shamed the former VP.

She stunned those in Zanu-PF who were used to sweeping things under the carpet. The lunatic fringe called the private media said our First Lady was being reckless, but this Bishop thinks she brought a breath of fresh air.

Now the cowards are back in town. Cry my beloved Zimbabwe!

In a somewhat vague statement by secretary-general of the War Veterans Association, Cde Victor Matemadanda, they said: ai???We are aware of the unholy alliance that is forming between the Americans and the British on the one hand and some Politburo members on the other.

ai???These Politburo members have started selling out to the imperialists on the promise that they will be given heaven on earth if they remove President Mugabe from power.

ai???The so called group of 4, 6 or any other number is hereby warned to stop whatever dreams they have that they can become prime ministers or presidents if they help to cause the un-governability of Zimbabwe as a means of achieving regime change.ai???

This came from the blue and we thought in days ahead we would hear more on the issue. Nothing of that sort happened. Instead, Cde Matemadanda and crew retreated into their shells.

This left many people wondering what the hell was going on. Who were these Politburo members allegedly working with the Americans and the British? How could these Politburo members be so reckless so soon after the Mujuru cancer was cut out?

This Bishop hears that when he was asked to respond to the allegations, Zanu-PF national commissar Cde Saviour Kasukuwere hit back saying these were ai???drunkardsai???.

And we have not heard anything from the War Veterans Minister, Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa. Letai??i??s leave it there for now. But the riddles continue. A few days ago, Zanu-PF MP for Gokwe-Nembudziya Cde Justice Mayor Wadyajena said ai???gay gangstersai??? in Zanu-PF were trying to unseat President Mugabe.

ai???Yesterday, I was in Kwekwe with the Vice-President Cde Mnangagwa. I think you have read in the Press about the problems taking place in Harare over some candidates, he said that the party is watching some people making mistakes, but itai??i??s a matter of time before they deal with them…

ai???He said: ai???Donai??i??t think that you are clever when you see the party quiet while you are making mistakes and not taking heed of the advice being given, itai??i??s just one day that it shall discipline you.ai??i?? So I am saying donai??i??t be ambitious like some who think they are clever.

ai???Donai??i??t ever think that you are more powerful than the party. There are people who have always been loyal to the leadership and have contributed a lot to it.ai???

Who was he comrade referring to?

Like Cde Mutsvangwa and the war vets, VP Mnangagwa has not said anything of this matter.

Cde Wadyajena was not done. He went on: ai???In the party we have some people now referred to as gay gangsters. Let this be known here: If there are youths here who are part of that clique, they must stop it.ai???

Cde Kasukuwere has certainly not been quiet. A few days ago he said: ai???We will not be blackmailed or intimidated . . . I will not share a stage with thieves. You are surviving by stealing peopleai??i??s blood . . . I will rather come alone than to be accompanied by criminals in Zanu-PF regalia …ai???

He was clearly incensed as he continued; ai???I am one of the biggest political thugs. If you are looking for big thugs in Zanu-PF, I am one of them. Some of these small little thugs who think they are bigger than the party are playing with fire. Come to the ground and I will deal with you. Come and I teach you a lesson.ai???

Tough talk indeed!

But wait a minute, dear reader.

Who was Cde Kasukuwere referring to? What message was he trying to put across and to who? Again, dear reader you and me are left to make our own conclusions. A whole national commissar speaking in tongues? Why?

Letai??i??s go back to those verses.

1 Corinthians 14:2 says: ai???For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit.ai???

And 1 Corinthians 14:13 buttresses the point saying: ai???Therefore, one who speaks in a tongue should pray for the power to interpret.ai???

So there it is ai??i?? speaking in tongues is not that effective comrades because you will be speaking ai???not to men but Godai??? and you should ai???pray for the power to interpret.ai???

Why leave the people hanging and guessing?

Speaking in tongues and riddles creates fertile ground for dangerous conclusions. You create a breeding ground for lies.

Maybe Zanu-PF needs a second coming of our First Lady.

We know President Mugabe is not afraid to confront those who must be confronted, as he did when tackling the issue of inequality in South Africa at a time other leaders fear taking on the continentai??i??s second-biggest economy.

ai???The political dispensation didnai??i??t address the disparities between white and black with most of the land in the hands of whites and most of the employment opportunities enjoyed by them . . . So we must help them. They need another liberation . . .

ai???This is what Nelson Mandela forgot to do. He thought freedom was number one, which was correct but when they negotiated they got freedom but with European rights preserved. This was controlled freedom. So that is the problem. There has not been as much access to resources by Africans as we have here and in our countries.ai???

You see, Nelson Mandela is a demigod who did no wrong, in the eyes of cowards who are afraid of the truth.

President Mugabe and Amai Mugabe are not afraid of the truth. Neither is Information Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo, who will not tolerate media myths. BBCai??i??s Steven Sackur said some mumbo jumbo about VP Mnangagwa being President Mugabeai??i??s preferred successor.

ai???This reference to him as the next President is really yours and a burden that you should unravel yourself and not state as a fact. You can ask those who see him that way but he is an appointed Vice-President.
