Warriors star man Khama Billiat believes he is a victim of both some female “fans” who don’t know their limits and unfair media coverage.
The forward, however, insists he is focused on his game and will not let reports that paint him as a serial adulterer affect him.
Speaking to The Sunday Mail last Wednesday evening, the 23-year-old described the women who claim to be having adulterous swings with him as attention seekers.
“Look, mudhara, I cannot change the way some people are born,” said Billiat.
“Some are born into this world to make a positive difference, while others are here to make the lives of others hell.
“These women come to me requesting for pictures and as a player who is taught to interact with fans in a warm manner for the good of the club’s image, I oblige to get photographed.
“However, it turns out some of them have evil intentions.”
The Aces Youth Academy graduate, who is valued at 900 000 euros by Germany-based website www.transfermarkt.com, concedes that he is a mere mortal, and like all of us, has his own shortcomings.
However, he questions why the South African media “always reports on Sundowns players and not those from Kaizer Chiefs or Pirates?”
“Does this mean all the Chiefs and Pirates players are clean? I don’t think so,” he said.
Billiat and his teammate Bongani Zungu were once reported to have set up a “love nest” in Midrand “where they take girls for sex every day.”
Away from the alleged off-field misdemeanour, Billiat spoke of his delight at winning his first major silverware — the 2013-14 Absa Premiership title last week.
“I would like to believe this is the first of many to come. It feels good to be a league champion and I would like to congratulate all my teammates for a job well done.
“We will savour this triumph, but will always remember that being champions puts us under pressure; we have to work twice as much next season,” he said.
Billiat, who once had an attachment stint at Ajax Amsterdam, believes Europe is his next career step, but maintains he is not under pressure to make the transition.
“All I have to do is enjoy my game and see how it goes. Everyone wants to play in Europe and I am no different…I don’t want to end my career here in South Africa; I want to play in the top leagues,” said the former Caps United and Ajax Cape Town man.
With the Warriors set to kick start their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign without him due to injury, Billiat is not under any illusions either.
“The days of believing that you are guaranteed a place in the Warriors because you play in a foreign league are long gone.
“Just look at how well the local players did at Chan earlier this year…that is a sign that everyone will have to compete and prove that he deserves to wear the national jersey.
“I was injured over the past few weeks, but I am getting there and looking forward to wearing the Warriors’ jersey again when fit…playing for your country is the ultimate honour.”
