Moses “BAMBO” CHUNGA can afford to smile now after his Chiredzi FC picked up their first set of three points at Luveve yesterday.
A first-half brace from David Temwanjira secured the points for Chunga’s cash-strapped outfit.

“I can’t exactly say it’s the beginning of a winning streak, but this will go a long way in boosting our confidence levels,” said the gaffer as he reflected on the Castle Premier Soccer League tie.

“I had always said results of the previous five matches were not a true reflection of how we have been playing.
“I know people had already begun writing our epitaph, but talk is cheap.”

Chunga was a little unlucky last weekend after a controversial Black Rhinos goal denied Chiredzi FC an important away point in a close contest at Rimuka.

Rhinos won the match 2-1, but television replays proved that the winner had not crossed the line.
On Wednesday last week Chiredzi lost 1-2 at home to How Mine in a match that saw Chunga talking himself into potential trouble.

In his post-match interview the outspoken coach bemoaned his team’s lack of sponsorship and took a dig at the league’s sponsors.
“Castle (Lager) are doing a great job by sponsoring the league, but I think instead of partnering the likes of Barcelona, it’s better they help the local teams.

“Messi does not even drink Castle Lager, but he is benefiting from the beer we drink here at our expense.
“We are not asking for both hands, we just need one little finger and with that one we can survive,” Chunga was quoted as having said after the match.

Away from the controversy, Chiredzi took their points tally to four, out of a possible 18, with yesterday’s victory.
For Bantu Rovers the defeat was their fourth of the season.

However, with six points in the bag Methembe Ndlovu and his charges have little reason to press the panic button. Their next game is away to high-flying Hwange.

The Bantu Rovers versus Chiredzi clash was the first of double header that was meant to cater for live television coverage by SuperSport.
However, technical glitches saw the channel failing to broadcast both matches.

In the second match, How Mine striker Kuda Musharu continued with his fine scoring form as his team dismissed Hwange 2-0.
Former Dynamos midfielder Wonder Sithole weighed in with the other goal as the goal miners secured their third win of the season.
Musharu’s strike was his third in two matches.

The striker, signed from Monomotapa United in the off season, struck a brace as his team sank Chiredzi at Chishamiso in midweek.
