An ultimate kiss on your wedding

Should I kiss him while my mouth is open or closed? Can I use my tongue or my lips only? How long must the kiss last? Where should I be placing my hands? These are some of the many questions that brides normally have before their wedding day and the same applies to the bridegrooms. Some couples look funny when they kiss on their wedding day as they appear like they are swallowing each other’s faces while kissing.

In some cases, couples look like their lips are slightly touching when they kiss as if they are not attracted to each other or they are being forced to kiss each other.

In Zimbabwe, the way people kiss on their wedding day is mainly influenced by the issue of culture and individual mentalities.
Mrs Charmaine Dizha from Southerly Park said she was so shy to kiss her husband on their wedding day that the kiss was less than five seconds.
“Before we exchanged vows, I could not stand the thought that I was going to kiss my husband in front of the guests especially my father. So my first wedding kiss was a sweet small kiss which lasted less than five seconds,” said Mrs Dizha.

“The Master of Ceremony asked us to redo the kiss because the videographer had not captured the act. The second time we kissed I was so confident that my hands were placed on my husband’s chest while his hands were gently touching my face and we kissed with slightly opened mouths but in the absence of tongue.”

She said she could not use the tongue because she felt like it was disrespectful thing to do in church.
Mrs Dizha is one of the people who feel uncomfortable watching a wedding couple having a long tongue to tongue kiss in church.
Some couples rehearse how to kiss on their wedding day, but come the wedding day they fail to do as practiced.

“My husband and I had practiced on how to kiss on our wedding day two days before but on the day, we got carried away and took longer than what we had rehearsed,” said Mrs Marcia Chideya.

“We were both excited about our day and when we kissed it really felt like we have become one flesh as we had promised each other in our vows.”

Different people have their different opinion on the weddings depending on what they believe in.
However, in my opinion, a wedding is a special day for the bride and bridegroom. As such, what should happen on the day must be special and ultimate for the couple for the rest of their lives.

A wedding kiss should be natural, not to be rehearsed or be done to please the audience but the wedding couples.
I believe, gestures such as holding hands, bride putting hands around bridegroom’s back or head, bridegroom holding the waist of the bride and bride placing hands on the bridegroom’s shoulders are romantic gestures that must not be left out during wedding kiss.
