Allan Wilson hosts Scripture Union Rally

The Sunday Mail

“BEHOLD, I GIVE YOU POWER” (Luke 10:17-19)is our the theme for the year. Allan Wilson hosted its Annual Scripture Union Rally recently. This was a shock to many as it was known that its rallies are held in June yearly. There was a slight increase in the number of schools present to 38 from the 33 of last year (2015).

There were schools from outside Harare which included Gweshe High and Chipadze High. Students from all angles of the city gathered together to praise & worship God. The average attendance ranged up to 500 people. There were also old boys who included Obert Kondongwe (2010 SU President) Tobias Mudzingwa (2011 SU President), Arnold Teremuka (2010 SU Vice President) and many others including Lawrence Kabulika and Aaron Zombe.

The guest speakers for the day were Prophet T.B Bondera (founder of Grace Harvest Ministries International) and Obert Kondongwe (2010 SU President and Headboy of Allan WIlson School). The event was also graced by the presence of Evelyn Mhaga who ministered songs that led the congregation to dance and praise the Lord. Over the past few years the attendance to our Scripture Union rallies have been tremendous.

The 2016 edition of the Allan Wilson Scripture Union Rally proved to be unique as there was an interactive talk show which allowed everyone to take part. The event also aimed to empower students both physically and spiritually and as a result there was a talk show which was insightful and the students took part by asking questions as Prophet T B Bondera and Pastor Obert Kondongwe answered the questions.

The Wilsonians were looking smart as each department had a different dress code. The ushering department were putting on the black slim ties whilst Catering had their unique bow-ties and Praise and Worship was outstanding with their whilst T-shirts which were white in color.

The program began with an intense moment of intercession being led by our Intercession team. This was accompanied by Voice of Worship as people were filled with the Holy Spirit and the atmosphere was heavily saturated with God`s presence. The welcome remarks followed and were executed by our executed by the Master of Ceremonies.

After a jovial time of praising the Lord the forerunner (2016 Allan Wilson Scripture Union President, Anesu Masamba) gave an insightful sermon enlightening the congregation on the theme “BEHOLD I GIVE YOU POWER” from Luke 10:17-19. The power filled congregation rejoiced as the word was being preached. The President said, “We have been praying and fasting about this theme so that your life turns around.

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours and he prayed that it would not rain for three and a half years and it did not rain. If he had a nature like ours, we can also declare things that are not in existence to com into existence.” The president then led people into declarations concerning their families, school works and their lives.

The different schools present showcased their talents in the form of dancing, singing and preaching. The dance groups present included Grace Harvest Ministries International Youths dance group and The Hoxers from Allan Wilson. Almost every school presented something on the day. Prophet T B Bondera then came onto the stage and gave a powerful teaching which presented many solutions to the youths` problems.

He began by sharing a scripture from genesis 1:28 “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and Multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” The different powers mention ed were the power to influence, the power to transform, the power of excellence and many others. In closing He prayed for the congregation and said that there is going to be great harvest when the results come out early next year.

After the lunch, a time which some call swalowship time came, there came the combined praise and worship time which gave schools the opportunity to minister praise songs. Having been equipped with the morning devotion, the afternoon speaker, Pator Obert Kondongwe (former headboy and 2010 SU President) gave a teaching mainly based on how to be successful.

He taught on how to get 15 points. He gave himself as a testimony of a 15 pointer and taught us that we do have the same mentality like that which he had when  he wrote his A` levels in 2011. He said, “A man who increases in knowledge increases in strength. You must be upset when you reach 90 years. Your attitude determines your altitude. Do not study last minute.” He gave us an RTR formula which is Responsibility divided by Time Management equals Result and told us that repetition is the law of long and lasting impression.

The introduction of committee was then executed by our Teacher In Charge, Mrs Gwatsvaira. She also introduced the Old Boys who had joined us on our 2016 Annual SU Rally and helped in the presentations of tokens of appreciation to Prophet T B Bondera, Pastor Obert Kondongwe and Evelyn Mhaga. The event by the special vote of thanks from the President of Allan Wilson Scripture Union (SU).

Prophet T B Bondera said that this year`s rally was excellent despite the spiritual battles that were going on and appraised the prayers that the intercession team made. Pastor Obert admired the uniqueness of the rally and said that, “the rally is awesome and everything is just perfect.” The T.I.C of Allan Wilson Scripture Union appraised the president saying his things were in order. Mrs Zimunya also loved the word given by the president and said he should continue preaching and seeking the Lord more and more.
The people present were greatly blessed.

Some like the food whilst some said the decoration was exceptional. Farisi Kandemiri, a lower six student at Allan Wilson said that he the word greatly inspired him and he realised that there are infinity opportunities because he was told that he has the power. Tobias Mudzingwa, 2011 Vice Headboy and SU President said that he loved the talk show as it was insightful and commented on the exceptionality of the decoration. KImberly Chakadya from GHMI said that truly the Spirit of the Most High was really moving and changing lives and she also admired the event since it was her first time.
