AS Keni Mubaiwa nears seven years as Dynamos boss, a lot of questions are being asked about the lanky businessman’s administrative capacity or lack thereof.

Mubaiwa, who took over from Farai Munetsi in 2011, clocks exactly seven years in charge of DeMbare on July 8 amid grumbles from a section of the club’s fans who accuse the bespectacled administrator of running down the club.

There were protests outside Rufaro last weekend after Dynamos’ shocking 3-3 draw against Shabanie while another section of fans said a total boycott of the game had always been mulled.

Incensed by how the Dynamos executive has dragged its feet on Cameroonian striker Christian Epoupa’s signing-on fee issue, as well as the alleged abuse of funds at the club, a section of DeMbare fans now wants Mubaiwa and his executive out.

But the DeMbare president is defiant, saying he is not going anywhere as his boss Bernard Marriot still wants him in the job.

Mubaiwa branded the fans who protested at Rufaro last weekend as a clique of politicians bent on sowing seeds of discontent, with the ultimate aim of toppling him.

“Those are not Dynamos supporters, they wear blue colours but they are not Dynamos at heart,” he said.

“That faction of supporters has always been there, we know they are sponsored by some individuals interested in taking over the reins at Dynamos.

“But my word to them is that they won’t succeed and I am not going anywhere unless my boss Marriot tells me so.”

Mubaiwa claims to have poured thousands of dollars into the club’s coffers and says anyone who loves DeMbare must also sacrifice for the club.

“I have done a lot for this club, I put in a lot of money whenever the club finds itself in trouble.

“True supporters of this club should come with constructive ideas, true supporters pay subscriptions for the benefit of the club.

“Most of those making noise are not even paid up Dynamos members, if they want power they should contribute financially and then seek office. However, you find that most of them are not card holders but rogue elements out to destabilise the club.

“Yes, they pay to watch the games but remember most of that money is taken up by the City Council, police and the PSL to mention a few,” said Mubaiwa.

The Dynamos president revealed why the club is broke at the moment and how it intends to address the Epoupa issue.

“Being a club that’s driven mostly by our gate takings the beginning of the season is usually a tough time for us cash flow wise,” he said.

“At a time like this we cannot pay some dues and this has given rise to the Epoupa’s situation.

“However, we are working out something, hopefully after the Highlanders game we will be in a position to settle some of the outstanding issues.”

Dynamos host Highlanders at Rufaro tomorrow hoping to maximize on gate takings as well as avert a looming crisis at the always volatile club.

A loss against the old enemy Bosso, could leave Lloyd Mutasa and his technical team in bad light.

But Mubaiwa is backing his technical team.

“Blowing a 3-0 lead is part and parcel of the game, it happens even in the established leagues in Europe.

“We are fully behind our technical team and we believe better things are in store for us this season,” he said.
