AIR ZIMBABWE says it is ready to go beyond its normal flight schedule to ferry delegates to the 18th International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA) to any local places of interest should the need arise.
The ICASA conference runs from Sunday November 29, 2015 to December 4, 2015.
Over 10 000 delegates, including four-time African footballer of the year Mr Samuel Eto’o of Cameroon, are expected to attend.
The national airliner also noted that it is prepared to provide charter services to delegates.
Air Zimbabwe public relations manager Ms Shingai Dhliwayo told The Sunday Mail Business that the flag carrier’s role before, during and after ICASA, was to provide transport and market Zimbabwe as a safe tourism destination.
“Basically, when you look at our service, we pride ourselves in offering Zimbabwean hospitality. Our hospitality is representative of the people of Zimbabwe … we are going to deliver to every passenger or to every guest that is going to fly Air Zimbabwe.
“We are going to connect people through Johannesburg into Harare and beyond Harare for those who want to do their pre-and post tours (of the country),” said Ms Dhliwayo.
She said given that Zimbabwe is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Victoria Falls – Air Zimbabwe would provide access to the site as well as other places of interest in Zimbabwe.
“We can tailor-make flights so that they can explore destinations of their choice. We are monitoring our bookings to see if there is need for extra capacity during this ICASA conference.
“People can book for these services online through our website; they don’t need to come to our offices,” said Ms Dhliwayo.
