PRESSURE group the Affirmative Action Group (AAG) is accusing Innscor Africa of “corporate gangsterism” in a bid to establish a fiefdom particularly in the food industry.AAG president Mr Chamu Chiwanza said last week the Group is pushing for a roundtable with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Innscor to discuss the issue of the industrial conglomerate’s perceived restrictive practices.

Attempts by the lobby group to engage Innscor has proved fruitless so far as management at the firm “always claim to be busy”.

He further noted that there were numerous complaints from small players in industry on Innscor’s domineering behaviour.

“If we create barriers around local companies to ensure that they don’t succeed, it causes problems. If Innscor doesn’t heed our call, we will take it further.

“We have written to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, appealing to them to intervene and we will see how they will react. I am sure they will have a roundtable with us and Innscor and then we can discuss this issue.

“If we feel that we are not helped, we are willing to escalate it to the highest office in the land,” said Mr Chiwanza.

As a big player in industry, Mr Chiwanza said, Innscor is supposed to help small players and not throttle them.
