Star FM “Gospel Greats” was born three years ago and the popular show has grown from strength to strength. Some of the notable artists who have enjoyed airplay on “Gospel Greats” are Reverend Togarepi Chivaviro, Nyasha Mutonhori, Sharon Manyonganise, Tinashe Magacha, Patience Masiyambiri-Mandizha, Alexandra Manyeruke, Soul Ministers, UFIC choir and Heartfelt Choir.

Star FM “Gospel Greats” is aired every Sunday from 6pm to 8pm by Napoleon Nyani, better known as Napstar. An upcoming gospel musician currently rocking the airwaves is Steeve Tendere, affectionately known as Steeve Dee. Steeve Dee recently released his debut eight-track album “Hymns Garai Neni” and the song “Musandipfuure” has entered the charts.

The song was played as a future hit four weeks ago and is already occupying number 13.

“Both my father and mother are talented; they can sing. I was born in a family of seven, four boys and three girls, we are all singers, I can safely say that God blessed us with that gift and we all have passion in music,” he said.

“I started singing at a tender age of five or six; we used to sing at school and in church services. I think I was eight when I joined a group called “Golden Harps” at that time; I was also in the school choir at Warren Park 1Primary.

“That was the time I realised my talent, It was really amazing because I was singing with older people. I remember when I was 10, I was singing with people who were double my age,” he said.

At the age of 14, Steeve started a group called Resolution but later on joined Anchor group after which they had several musical shows in Harare.

“Anchor was naturally dissolved in 2012 because most of the members moved to the Diaspora and that was the last time I was musically “visible”. All along I was singing for my family,” he said.

His debut album carries the songs “Garai Neni”, “Musandipfuure” ft Vhiriri, “Kutanga Muponesi”, “Just As I Am”, “Mira Padombo” ft Vhiriri and Oscar Tendere, “Tis So Sweet”, “Munyaradzi Auya” ft Mtemeli and Oscar Tendere, and bonus track “Lord of My Life”.

“When I recoded this album I never expected that it will have such impact, I am getting calls from all age groups, an indication that my songs are touching lives. I am equally humbled and privileged with what God is doing through me. Praise be to him always,” said Steeve.
