Last week on Thursday, Morgan Tsvangirai cut a lone and frail figure as he addressed a handful of MDC-T supporters who had gathered outside Harvest House to give him moral support after his return from South Africa where he is seeking treatment for cancer of the colon.

The once vibrant opposition leader who has been at the helm of the wretched party for the last 17 years is withering away into oblivion with every public appearance that he makes.

The few hangers-on listened as Tsvangirai addressed them for just over a minute before rashly excusing himself, saying he had a meeting to attend.

Now I am sure most people in the ruling party are feeling sorry for the fella.

This is the same person who used to say President Mugabe’s health was affecting his leadership.

That’s Karma for you. Poor Morgan may not be the one to lead his party to Canaan after all.

Well, he has had to use his dictatorial tendencies to appoint Nelson Chamisa and Elias Mudzuri as his deputies alongside Thokozani Khupe.

That signalled that Morgan is no longer fit for any political office.

Where in the world do you find three vice presidents in one a political party?

Worse still, this is the same party that has viciously opposed the appointment of two vice presidents in Government.

Such irrational appointments make us doubt Tsvangirai’s sanity.

Instead of focusing on giving the ruling Zanu PF a run for their money in 2018, Tsvangirai is focusing on creating new leadership positions in MDC-T’s structures.

Thoko is being sidelined and only Morgan knows why.

MDC-T now has to contend with a Mudzuri who doesn’t any grassroots support.

Then there is Douglas Mwonzora, the opposition’s secretary general. While he thrashed Nelson Chamisa at the party’s 2014 congress, all that has been overturned by the stroke of Morgan’s pen.

Mwonzora now reports to Chamisa, the man that he defeated in a free and fair congress election.

It’s a total mess for the opposition that has kept an unintelligent leader at the forefront of its perceived revolution.

Morgan was never leadership material even when he was still of sound body and mind.

The chap is inherently dull and no matter how much light is shed on him, darkness always overwhelms him.

His latest blunder will have far-reaching effects in the demise of the opposition party.

Khupe’s influence has been heavily diluted and so has her chances of being an eventual successor to Morgan.

Female MDC-T supporters feel betrayed.

Even though they know that they would have lost to Zanu PF anyway, they feel that the day when Khupe will battle it out with Joice Mujuru will never come.

There has been a coup against Khupe by the boys from Mpandawana. Perhaps if she hailed from Gutu, she wouldn’t have been undermined in such an embarrassing manner.

Clearly, the MDC-T is sinking way under with each day that Tsvangirai remains at its helm.

Which is very unfortunate.

You see, Zanu PF enjoys winning elections, but it does not enjoy fighting these weak and fragmented parties.

It is just not fun running any race with such a weakling.

Maybe a new political party is in the making, maybe pastor Evan Mawarire is thinking about it.

But hey, a lion never loses sleep over the opinions of sheep and as it stands, Zanu PF is only surrounded by sheep.

Dubulaizitha!
