A common pot of soup

What is soup without the ingredients which make it soup? Everyone has a role to play, we all can make a difference despite our differences.
A WISE man once said that for most of our lives we search and even leave no stone unturned looking for the many things that separate us as a nation.

It might be culture, religion or tradition, but we all fail to see what commonly binds us together as a nation, our Zimbabwe.
Our state as Zimbabweans should not be defined along ethnic or tribal lines whether you are Ndebele, Shona or Tonga.

At the end of the day we are all Zimbabweans.
Spices, vegetables and water have a distinct identity until there are turned into soup, then their identity changes and is defined by one pot of soup.

We expect an economy of milk and honey but yet we forget to bring our own milk and honey.
God made us beautiful in our diversity, so let us unite and be one. It takes one person at a time, you and me, to complete our own pot of soup which is Zimbabwe.

What is soup without the ingredients which make it soup?
Everyone has a role to play, we all can make a difference despite our differences.
As every bowl of soup has ingredients which makes it tick; so there is need for everyone to contribute towards the well-being of Zimbabwe.

It is through dreams that people of great renown like Martin King Luther Jnr, Nelson Mandela and even our own indigenous heroes achieved independence and even much more ushered us to a Zimbabwe full of love, peace, unity and development.
Let us rise together and leave no man sitting for the benefit of us all and those yet to come.

All of us must aspire to work towards the development of our motherland. Let us work together for the enrichment of our pot of soup. Indeed just a common pot of soup.

The writer, Siphiwe N. Dube, is a Form two student at Goromonzi High School with a passionate heart to contribute towards the development of Zimbabwe — a beautiful nation with great potential if we see ourselves as ingredients in this common pot of soup.
